This review is for "Alternative Latex Foam" 2 Inch Mattress Topper. I felt I needed to improve the mattress in our new RV as the foam mattress although fairly comfortable could benefit from the addition of a softer more body contouring topper. I've tried several memory foam mattress toppers in the past, and all of them had the same issue. After a few minutes you are sleeping in a hole that you cannot get out of. All of them ended up in the trash. I don't care what they say. Sleeping in a hole is not comfortable. And the way they advertise memory foam toppers you don't know what you are getting until after you buy it. By chance prior to my purchasing a topper, I spent the night at my son's house and the bed was extremely comfortable. No back ache in the morning and a blissful night's sleep. I had to know what mattress was on this bed. Come to find out it was only the addition of this Alternative Foam Mattress Topper to a cheap mattress that made the bed so comfortable. So, I immediately purchased one for the RV. I can only comment on my experience. This mattress topper is totally different. It provides superior total full body support over and above what you receive from memory foam. Equally the same support you would receive from a full latex mattress topper at less than 1/4 of the cost. I can only describe the comfort and body contouring support you receive from this topper as nothing less than outstanding. Unlike a memory foam mattress when you lie on this mattress topper your body heat does not affect the support quality of the topper. When you move the mattress topper instantly returns back to its original shape allowing you to move as you wish without any restrictions to your movement. You get full total body contouring support no matter how you sleep. In my opinion this Alternative Foam Mattress Topper provides every bit the comfort I get from a $700 Latex Mattress Topper that I have is on our home bed. So far, I have only tested the two-inch topper because I have it on a fairly comfortable foam mattress. On a regular bed the 3 inch may be a better choice. And if you are over 200 lbs. like me. The 3-inch thickness might provide a better level of support. I have found that the topper can sleep warm so a breathable thick mattress pad will remove much of the heat if you are a warm sleeper. This Alternative Latex topper is a back saver. I have used toppers for some time and have noticed within 4 mos. or so that my lower back starts to hurt. It got so bad I had to have a pillow behind my back when even sitting on the sofa to watch tv. Took 2 extra pillows to bed in hopes of staving off the morning pain. Nothing worked. Purely by accident I stumbled on to the Alternative Latex topper. Desperate yet willing to give it one last try I ordered it. It did feel slightly firmer but I didn't have much hope. The next morning I woke and got up. The pain was not completely gone but I felt better than I had in ages. One week later I can report a complete recovery in my lower back. I was a bit disappointed when I open the package. Looks like a cheap foam pad. Definitely doesn't look like gel or latex. I'm using it as a topper on an air mattress and I have to say its pretty comfortable. A lot of people complain about the smell. It doesn't smell that bad.

It is comfortable for sure, exactly what you want to feel from a mattress topper. Mine did not come with any chunks missing like others . BUT MANN when other reviewers said this thing smells like paint they were not exaggerating. I thought I could just put a sheet and a blanket over it, BUT IT STILL SMELLS SO BAD. It’s lingering in my room and it’s all in my bedding, it sucks! Listen to me. Don’t buy this at all. I am returning it. ALSO PLEASE NOTE: It does not fully cover my Queen sized mattress. The chemical smell is pretty bad it sat laid out flat in a room for 3-4 days put it on my bed yesterday even with mattress protector and sheet the smell is still strong! I will add that it is comfortable but if you have issues with overheating or hot flashes do not buy this! I had to change my clothes when I woke up because I had that chemical smell all over them. I just wanted to sleep well and stop hurting so much when I wake up now I'm trying to figure out how to get rid of the awful oder ... show more
