  • Nice kit
Knowing who this set belongs to is made easy by the hand and foot nail clippers' colorful handles. Right now, the edges are razor-sharp and cut well. How long the edges maintain their sharpness will depend on time. Neither clipper contains a tiny swing-out memory board with a hook or point for cleaning the nails. The cuticle trimmers have a lot of cutting edge. Their weakness is the inconvenient metal bar hinge, which, like those of every other brand, including Tweezerman and Japonesque, swivels awkwardly almost every time you close the nippers. The handles are similarly devoid of any grip material and have no etched or roughened designs. If you need to try your brows and can't find those scissors, the cuticle scissors are sharp as well and work as a decent stand-in. They don't work as well as nippers in removing cuticles or hang nails, and they aren't the ideal for trimming thick nails. The cuticle pusher is made of generic plastic. The harsh plastic edge on one end can be used to scrape away and clean overgrown cuticles, while the softer silicone tip on the other end is for pushing back softened cuticles. Its edge is too rounded to be very useful, and its thickness makes it ineffective for cleaning between nails. For basic shaping, the emory board performs well, but it is too rough for polishing. ... show more

  • Nice set of nail tools
I swear nail clippers are like socks in the dryer - they both end up in some random black hole where you can never find them. I'm forever buying single little nail clippers for the family. Usually I don't order kits like this, but I'm hoping that it might ~encourage~ the recipient to keep everything all together. Regarding that, it would have been great if Amazon had included even a little drawstring bag to put the implements in. They didn't, so you will need to find an extra around your house or buy a cheap one at the dollar store for a buck. The colored handles on the hand and foot nail clippers is handy for knowing who this set belongs to. The edges are sharp and cut well right now. Time will tell how long the edges hold their sharpness. Neither clipper has a little swing out emory board with the nail cleaning hook or point on the end. The cuticle trimmers are seriously sharp. Their downfall is the annoying metal bar hinge that, like with every other brand including Tweezerman and Japonesque, swivels out of place just about every time you close the nippers. There's no latch to secure the bar, so if you happen to bump it even gently as a feather the darn thing moves. There's also no grip material on the handles, or any roughened design engraved in the metal. The cuticle scissors are sharp too, and make an okay substitute if you need to try your brows and can't find those scissors. They don't work as well at getting cuticles or hang nails as the nippers do, and they aren't the best if trying to trim a thick nail. The cuticle pusher is plastic and generic. One end has the softer silicone tip for pushing back softened cuticles, and the other has the hard plastic edge to help scrape away and clean overgrown cuticles. Its edge is too rounded to be very effective, and it's too thick to be used to clean underneath nails. The emory board works well for basic shaping but is too rough for buffing. Like the listing says, it is fully comparable to the Japonesque Essential Manicure and Pedicure Kit. Both kits have the same items, just different designs. The clippers in the Japonesque set don't have the swing out files, either. Their plastic cuticle pusher has a bit more of an edge at the plastic end, but that's really the only difference between the two. The only brand that offers customers the ability to send their products in to have them resharpened is Tweezerman, and they also offer a lifetime guarantee whereas Japonesque and Amazon don't. A set like this from Tweezerman runs $20-$25, but comes with the lifetime guarantee and sharpening. The set from Japonesque runs $13-16 depending on where you buy it from, and comes in a selection of colors and patterns. The Amazon set is cheapest, but I didn't see any other colors or patterns offered. For ten bucks, it is a good but basic set of nail care tools. ... show more

  • Cheap, effective, and nice variety of tools
The first thing you look at with this set is the price - honestly for all the tools provided it's a fantastic price point. Everything feels well constructed and sturdy and I've had zero issues using any of the components provided. Very slight issue I had was just in the appearance of the package when it was delivered - most of the parts had fallen out of their slots in the plastic and were a bit scattered in the container - but this is minor and appearance only as everything works as intended. ... show more

  • Fun set
I love the colors on it! We're to the point where I'd like to not have everyone share a fingernail clippers and the purple/pink will help the owner know which is theirs. Fingernail Clipper: It clips well. It sort of looks like something isn’t lined up right on this as when I clamp down it looks like one blade slides over the other. Thus far it works, though. Toenail Clipper: I don’t have a ton of experience with toenail clippers (I’ve mostly used fingernail clippers on my toes in the past), but this was very easy and effective to use! Cuticle Pusher: Works great—no issues! Cuticle Nipper: I had to research how to use one of these and was surprised by how easy it was to use. Works great! Nail Scissors: I don’t have a lot of experience with this type of tool either, but look forward to experimenting more. I like how it makes curved edges. Works great. Nail file: Works great! ... show more

  • Manicure Set
This is a nice, basic kit. We have lots of clippers in this house, so I was more interested in the other components, especially the cuticle items. I’ve already used the cuticle nipper to take care of hangnails on myself and my son. I get a manicure regularly, but tend to do my own pedicures, and this set has helped me achieve salon results. For less than $10 you can’t beat the quality! ... show more

  • Good, complete manicure set
The tools in this set are the type that you would expect to find in a manicure set. I've used the fingernail clippers, the nippers, and the emery board so far, and they are all good quality. The clippers and the nippers are very sharp. I'll probably toss the scissors into a sewing kit or a knitting bag, because it's a good size for snipping yarn and thread. I like the red-purple grips on the handles of the clippers. They will keep my hands from slipping. And they are pretty. However, I'm disappointed that neither clipper has a swing out file. I like having those not only for filing but also for cleaning under my fingernails. ... show more
