  • Good protection to apply to your deck support.
Size: 2" x 50', 4-Pack
I’ve been remodeling a home and I am building a small patio leading out from the back door. While I try to paint every surface and use pressure treated wood where needed, there are always areas that seem to be prone to water penetration. This joist tape peels easily, cuts with a scissor or razor, and adheres nicely. In the short term, I can see it deflecting water very well. Time will tell after some freeze/thaw cycles and exposure to UV if the integrity of the tape is affected. Just make sure you have a clean, dry surface when you put it down. With composite planks on top, pressure treated lumber below, and this in the middle, your patio or deck will probably outlive you. If they can keep the 4 pack to around $30 I would consider this a good deal. More than that, shop around for the best price, there are a lot of options out there. ... show more

  • I am immpressed
Size: 2" x 50', 8-Pack
The 8 rolls of tape, with 400 ft of 2-inch joist tape is perfect for an upcoming redo of my old, weather worn, and deteriorating deck. . I tried to extend the life of my old deck by reversing the boards. However, after taking off the decking, it was obvious the builders had not put any sort of flashing or protection on the joists/framing and most had cracks from shrinkage/expansion (and some rot) from the Texas weather which allowed water seepage into the boards. these cracks will collect water and cause eventual deterioration. Even pressure treated will deteriorate if not protected as often the pressure treating does not go all the way through. Joist tape is a must if you live in weather conditions that have extremes like the cold in Minnesota or the extreme heat of Texas and other southern states. As to this product, all the rolls are nicely produced and square. I did not notice any deformation in the rolls, and I tested one roll for its robustness. The tape seems as good as, and less expensive than, what I have seen in the local stores. The exposed top portion is very flexible and has a rubberized feel that is very pliable and as thick as you would want. The backing is what looks to be a sort of Mylar which I like and, is much better than the paper backed type which is hard to peel off to expose the sicky side. It was a bit hard to initially start the mylar/plastic backing since it is so thin but taking up one corner with a box cutter tip helped to start it and then the plastic peeled off nicely, exposing a good sticky base to set on the joist. With a test joist that was dry and well-seasoned, it sticks extremely well and conforms to the board perfectly. I especially liked that these at 2 inches which makes it easier to lay down on a normal 2X and gives 1/4-inch overlap which can be folded down over the edge making for a nice seal against any weather rain or dirt/leaves which might be laying on top, between the decking, and thus protect the joists. Overall, I am extremely pleased with this product and look forward to using it on my rebuild. ... show more

  • Great adhesion, seems to hold up well.
Size: 2" x 50', 2-Pack
This is really nice tape. It seems to hold up really well to weather and makes a good seal. No leaking so far. The roll is nice and big so you can get a lot of use out of them. The adhesion is good and you can pull and reposition it if you need to without ruining it as long as you don't smash it too much. Once it's smashed, it's probably not going to come off in one strip. I have been cutting it with some industrial scissors. You could probably use an exacto or razor blade too. Highly recommend. ... show more

  • One Sided 4" Weatherproof Tape........ See Photos~
Size: 4" x 50', Single Pack
I recently had a plastic shed built for the backyard of the home I'm renting & unfortunately, I can't use it yet due to leaks. It's on a grassy area so we built a wood base for a level platform. It has treated wood across bricks & untreated wood at the top of the base. I got this to go around the bottom, sealing where the resin meets the untreated wood that's exposed to the elements & at the top, around the roof. I'd read that it's best to work with an inch or two at a time, stretching it as you go. I tried that and since the roof is at an angle, I found myself needing to cut it every foot or so. My boyfriend, who is a contractor, came and showed me how to stretch and apply it with long pulls. It went much faster and easier this way, rather than trying to only pull an inch at a time. It's quite strong, easy to work with when you go about it the right way & has really great adhesion. It's thick & literally feels like rubber. I had water pooling between the base & shed & this effectively blocks it out. To give you an idea of how much rain I'm dealing with, I live in the Seattle area, in the Pacific Northwest we get a lot of rain. It has held up fine on both wood and plastic; I do feel it will be good for multiple surfaces and uses. My recommendation would be to be careful when you're taking it out of the cellophane. The label kind of went with it and then I tore the white backing off as well and realized my mistake. The side of the roll, like any very adhesive tape, is sticky so it's better to leave the white paper on the sides so that it doesn't get gunked up with lint ot whatever, whenever you put the roll down. Added some photos so you can get a closer look and see what I mean. Soda can is there just for size reference. I like the backing so I can cut whatever length I need and go from there. I taped a pool noodle on the side of my shed, where the lip is too short & water seems to be coming in the most 😂 Temporary solution, until I get a gutter or some roof flashing on that side. Great tape, good value. Recommended. ... show more
