  • Fast, Reliable, and Works with Every Drive I Own!
Style: Y-3322C
The Alxum USB 3.0 to IDE/SATA Converter is exactly what I needed for quick, reliable access to older hard drives. I had a mix of old 2.5" and 3.5" HDDs — both SATA and IDE — and this adapter handled them all without a hiccup. Setup was a breeze: simply plug it in, connect your drive, and your computer recognizes it instantly. The included power supply is solid and delivers enough juice for larger drives. Transfer speeds over USB 3.0 are excellent, making big file transfers quick and painless. ... show more

  • This thing works!
Style: Y-3322C
I've had a huge dead Macintosh Computer in the attic with all my photos from the previous century on several 2TB hard drives inside. I saw an advert for a tiny contraption that could take those hard drives and switch them to USB. I did a Reddit search to see if it really worked and Redditors pointed out Alxum was the cheapest and simplest. Simple? I really didn't need directions on how to plug USB and power cord into it and the SATA connection had multiple ways but one was the obvious fit. 30 seconds later I am scrolling through photos I had not seen in years. Apple Hard Drives have been slide out and swap forever so not even a screwdriver was necessary. I now have several 2TB drives as back up storage that I can plug in any time. This thing is a magical device for someone who has not kept up with the tech. ... show more

  • Very useful but flimsy
Style: Y-3322C
*** General Thoughts *** (Jul 2022) It does what it needs, but the plastic case and the material feels very cheap overall. *** Connectivity *** Has a very solid set of connectors to use, furthermore it comes with the many cables that you might need. The issues that I have are with the connections themselves. Unless you place the item on a flat desk (which, you probably will), it is a bit worrysome how loosely connected everything is. There is the strong feeling that if you lift the hub instead of the hard drive, it will break off. Lastly, the actual power cord is extremely long and was a very pleasant surprise. *** Conclusion *** Despite the bads, for the price you are paying it is very worth it if you need it for hot swaps and multiple drives. There are multiple options available, but the main difference would be with the copying quality for cloning drives, which is a feature that seems to be happening in many of the newer sets of hubs like these. ... show more

  • It worked very well as advertised.
Style: Y-3322C
I had an ancient IDE hard drive form an equally ancient computer. I needed to access the hard drive in search of some old medical records. Plugged everything in and was able to immediately access everything on the drive. Alas, I did not find my medical records, but I have another external hard drive that I can use if needed. ... show more

  • Won't power up 3.5 in IDE HDD
Style: Y-3322C
Doesn't power up my IDE drive. My drive worked fine with my last (cheap) enclosure (broke, cheap). Doesn't even power up with this unit. Haven't even tried SATA yet...

  • Great Product
Style: Y-3322C
I had stored a hard drive from around 2008 or before and had no idea how to access it since it required a different connector I have not seen before. Luckily this adapter provided the right connector and allowed me to access the hard drive and recover my galleries of old pictures.

  • I was able ot get it to do the job I needed. Struggled with using it on my Windows 11 PCs.
Style: Y-3322C
I'd really make it a 3.5 out of 5. I had issues with it working with my Windows PCs (may be me...may not be me) However, it worked great on my MacBook, and as advertised there.
