*Edit* After using the sticks the bottom will kick out if the stick sags down the tree much at all. I took a drill bit that barely fit in the Versa Button hole and drilled out new holes exactly 2" down. I still think they are a good stick and am buying another set so I can carry six with me. These steps are great. Very solid construction. You have to assemble one of the sticks. So while you are putting that one together, go through and tighten all the stand-off screws and step screws really tight on the other three sticks. Using an aider trick that goes around the right boot, then hooks on the button or top step, I can easily get four feet between sticks. Or, you can use a single aider on just the bottom step and still get high enough up the tree. I stacked the sticks on top of each other, and they are right at six feet tall. So even 18" between sticks, with an 18" aider on bottom will get you 15' in the air. ... show more

  • With a little modification these sticks work great
Size: 18 Inch Number of Items: 4
I like the climbing sticks. The price was good and I bought the bundle package from Amazon so they made it a little cheaper. They stack easily and are easy to carry. The system for holding the sticks together works well and is quiet. Grips the tree well. Feels very sturdy and durable. My only complaint is with location of the post for securing the sticks to the tree. It has an upper and lower one but really only needs one that is closer to the center. It’s an easy modification but worth the trouble. For the price I don’t think you can go wrong with these sticks. ... show more

  • Kicks out. But works ok for price

Ok for the price. They tend to kick out on the bottom because the strap is too high. They really shout add a button for the strap in the middle of the step

  • Good climbing

They hold good. They attach nicely. They seem very sturdy when standing and climbing on them. They don’t bow in or seem like they will break.
