This has been a great dog door. We have a larger dog, a smaller dog, and a cat and all three use it. The magnet works well to keep it closed and it came with two slide in pieces to block off the door completely. The template for install worked really well.     • Sturdy "basic" XL Dog Door

I wanted to add an XL size dog door to an already existing opening in my garage wall to the side yard for my Labrador Retriever. I am not sure who says an 11 x 17 (large size) door is adequate for "up to 100 lb" dog, but none the less, the XL size seems better suited, so I found this door on sale and decided to give it a try. NOTE: This is designed for an entry door, not an exterior wall, so I had to provide my own framing between both dog doors. I just wasn't willing to pay over 2X the cost for a telescoping model designed for a wall. I framed out my opening between the interior and exterior walls, and prefit the doors to make sure the fit was good. The doors have about a 1 1/2" flange that overlapped the opening I built, creating a smooth transition. Once I was satisfied with the fit, it was time to mount them. While the package included some screws, there are no mounting holes provided, and I didn't really want to drill thru the framing, so out came the caulk gun and some silicon caulk to adhere the doors to the wall. I used some quick clamps to keep the doors snug to the walls, and just caulked around the frame, and let set until the caulk had dried. Oh, I had removed the flaps for the installation so I didn't accidentally damage them. These are a bit tricky to get in and out, and it did take me a couple of attempts to get them back in properly, but they do hold securely once they are seated correctly. Overall, I am happy with the product and would buy them again for the money I saved vs. the telescoping design. ... show more

Pros: - well made, frame and they come in different colors - strong main magnet - door doesn't jam in opened position after use - decent flap wind resistance - includes two well fitting plastic cover doors Cons: - 1/4" gap on one side of each flap - because of the gap, the small magnets on one side of each flap are useless ... show more

Quite easy to install, had to cut the opening a bit bigger than the previous one, but it works nice the flaps are easy to remove and the double flap seems to be good to help keep cold air outside.

Like many others on here, the flap fell out due to the tiny screws that hold it in place. The only solution appears to be to use duct tape.

I took out a glass window and made a wood frame to fit where the window was, it has 2 flexible doors for my large and 2 smal dogs can go eaisly thought the doggie door. I also made a 1" thick door on the inside with 2 barrel bolts for extra security when i'm gone. I'm very happy with this doggy door and my dogs are too! ... show more

The media could not be loaded. We recently moved into a new house on our property and I did NOT want another sliding door. We had previously had a lexan triple panel dog door insert, by another company. I loved the door. But, our big puppies are aging and my husband wanted a door sized for them, to make it easier to get in and out. This comes in a size that my kids can easily come in and out. They don't have to slow down at the door. Bad arthritis days and my boy easily gets in and out, without stumbling or struggling. It seems to be holding up to the constant in and out of 2 giants and 2 cats. It has been in place since September. 6 months of wear and tear hasn't brought the flaps down. That said. The flaps DO NOT seal tight. The "magnets" are not strong enough to hold against the wind or pull the door closed when the dogs or cats go in and out, if there is any breeze. You can clearly see their green porch pad through the edges of the dog door. It does not close up all the way around. It lets cold air just breeze right in. The windows above the door frost over on the INSIDE in the winter due to the cold air coming in. I use the lock out door more on this door than I have ever had to on any other door to block the cold, the rain, the snow... I suspect this spring there will be a bug parade... I am hoping to find a better sealing door. In the meantime, I am adding insulation rubber stripping along the inside between the double flaps so as to not interfere with the magnets. I am trying to figure out a way to install rare earth magnets into or on to the flap and frame. Hopefully they will offer the pull needed to close or keep the door closed with spring winds and rain coming. ... show more
