Ordered yesterday. Arrived today. They are a close fit over my size 9 feet/heels and an elastic fit over my socks without hindering blood flow. The gaiter's hook fits under the first lace crossover. I have not used, nor do I anticipate using, the Velcro on the heels since the body of the gaiter is, well, snug. Initial use will be to keep shredded leaves out of the boots in FDR State Park. In August, they will be used to reduce fine granite dust, and sand pebbles from dropping into the boots tops on the JMT. Ha! They match my blue Osprey pack. Update: I wore the gaiters on a 12-mile hike in FDR State Park, and they performed very well. Not once did they slip above the top of the boots. Given the light rain and wet grass along the trail I could have expected some moisture to seep into the boots. That did not happen. Good purchase. ... show more

Work great on my Olympus 6 shoes. The aggressive tread of the shoes throw up a lot of rocks and sand when running or hiking fast so these gaiters are a must!! I’ve got a dozen wears with them so far. They are lightweight and I don’t even notice them at all. The attachment is very secure, cool engineering. Only concern is the part that goes around the ankle doesn’t seem very stretchy and fitting my size 12 foot through them makes me nervous with how light the material is. Wish they had a more robust ankle attachment/compression sleeve. ... show more

I now have 7-8 of these. The most recent are three that, in my opinion, are improved, because they are slimmer at the ankle. My previous ones, I had to re-seam because of the gaping at the ankle, which allowed sand and small pebbles into the insides. Now, I wish Altra would revisit the decision to discontinue the gaiter attachments on the All-Weather Lone Peaks. Gaiters are needed on all low ankle trail shoes. ... show more

Fits perfectly with my Altras. I used the other reviews to determine size. It was more based on my ankle/calf size than my shoe size. I wear size 11 women's shoes but have small legs. I got the smalls, and they fit fine. Ran a trail half marathon on sandy/rocky trails in Colorado, and nothing ended up in my shoes. Perfect! They go on quickly, connect with the shoelaces and the built-in velcro on the back of my shoes. Great buy! ... show more

These need a cinch strap, elastic, or velcro. The narrow top portion is very small and does not fit over my heel when barefoot. It seems like an OK product and should keep dust or rocks out but also the material is very thin. There is nothing to keep the gaiter up and I expect the flimsy material will just sag, but then I was not able to try them since they will not fit on my feet. ... show more

These are a game changer when it comes to trail running. I have Altra trail running boots (that I LOVE) and half way through the summer I bought these bad boys and have been in love ever since. Nothing gets in my shoes and drives me nuts while I run. Dirt still finds its way in there but just dusty dirt. No rocky dirt or objects you would notice. 10/10 ... show more
