I purchased a Altec Lancing boom box about 15 years ago. The kind that you put your iPod into a slot. It still works and sounds great now after being taken on camping trips, fishing boats, and around the yard in heavy use. It’s got a little duct tape holding on the speaker cover and looks a little beat up, but it still works. When I decided I wanted a boom box with Bluetooth and rechargeable, I knew that I wanted the same quality and great sound. So I returned to the brand that has served me so well for so many years. This sound bucket did not disappoint. It has the same great sound I expected from Altec Lancing and was easy to use. I’m happy with the purchase. Note: Some reviews state they received an older version of this speaker with only 10 hours battery life. I received the newer Soundbucket XL with 20 hours battery life. The rockbox xl has much better bass. This one is more clarity. This one though gets loud and sounds good for what it is. I have both and use them like surround sound as when linked there is absolutely NO lag between them. Love the wireless charger on this one as well. Battery lasts forever! What a great product! The sound quality is perfect. I use for training class presentations/videos. Large conference room and noisy cafeteria (machines) and it is the perfect size. Never have to go above 60 on volume setting.

This is a fabulous speaker and it exceeded my expectations. The sound is very rich in bass and the battery life is longer then I ever imagined. You can take it anywhere, what more can you ask for…if I could give 10 stars I would. I’m loving it.

Good to great battery life, full sound, pairing available, and charging ability. Unfortunately, the unit died just beyond the year warranty. Compare that to an OONTZ that I purchased that is going on 4 years plus, and has been abused far harder, where these speakers have primarily been used either inside or out on a shaded patio away from sun and rain. Also, if you purchase a pair of them like I did, be aware that there is a definite volume variation at the lower end. The speaker that died had a great ultra low setting, as tonstill enjoy music and not mess with the neighbors. The one that has survived is noticeably louder...too loud..., and when the volume is reduced the next level it's mute. Very frustrating. I've been using Altec Lansing products for going on 25 years, and I won't be replacing the remaining speaker when it fails, especially for the price. ... show more

I bought four of these to put a sound system in a riding arena. I wasnt sure how well they would connect together because it's beyond the listed distance to party chain them together. They have a great sound quality, they 'remember' each other so you just have to hit the button once if they get turned off. They do not need to be close to each other to re-pair, mine are about 175 feet apart and they find each other without issue. The sound quality is very good, and they get VERY loud. We normally operate them at about 40% volume, and that is plenty loud to hear as we are riding around. I would recommend these for anything you need a big sound for. I would not get these to use indoors, because I think you'd blow your eardrums out ... show more

Took speaker on a floating trip. Speaker was in a tube and never submerged, but it did get splashed throughout the day. Workerd all day without issue, but once I turned it off it will not turn back on. Hooked up to charge for a few hours, still nothing. It's a good speaker, but apparently calling it waterproof is a lie. ... show more
