I purchased a Altec Lancing boom box about 15 years ago. The kind that you put your iPod into a slot. It still works and sounds great now after being taken on camping trips, fishing boats, and around the yard in heavy use. It’s got a little duct tape holding on the speaker cover and looks a little beat up, but it still works. When I decided I wanted a boom box with Bluetooth and rechargeable, I knew that I wanted the same quality and great sound. So I returned to the brand that has served me so well for so many years. This sound bucket did not disappoint. It has the same great sound I expected from Altec Lancing and was easy to use. I’m happy with the purchase. Note: Some reviews state they received an older version of this speaker with only 10 hours battery life. I received the newer Soundbucket XL with 20 hours battery life. This thing is great. Loud enough for parties, waterproof, wireless charge your phone to play music for hours and hours. Has some bass, sounds good, good price. Get this speaker and don't think twice. And it's water proof. Floated in the water for hours and still works like a champ.

This is a fabulous speaker and it exceeded my expectations. The sound is very rich in bass and the battery life is longer then I ever imagined. You can take it anywhere, what more can you ask for…if I could give 10 stars I would. I’m loving it.

The rockbox xl has much better bass. This one is more clarity. This one though gets loud and sounds good for what it is. I have both and use them like surround sound as when linked there is absolutely NO lag between them. Love the wireless charger on this one as well. Battery lasts forever! I got this for my dad for xmas and he LOVES it. Super portable, it’s rechargeable, has a great battery life, and great sound. I’d say it’s the perfect mid quality speaker that sounds great but also isn’t extremely expensive. Has pretty good bass and clear sound. I’d recommend it.

Originally only 3 stars because after 7 months the speaker is blown/rattles. Before it started rattling it was an AMAZING speaker. I called altec lansing and they sent me a return label which is great but we'll see how it plays out. After a month wait to get a new speaker, the new one would not charge. Called support and got another return label. This time only two weeks and got a new speaker that works great. 5 stars for great support. ... show more

Took speaker on a floating trip. Speaker was in a tube and never submerged, but it did get splashed throughout the day. Workerd all day without issue, but once I turned it off it will not turn back on. Hooked up to charge for a few hours, still nothing. I bought four of these to put a sound system in a riding arena. I wasnt sure how well they would connect together because it's beyond the listed distance to party chain them together. They have a great sound quality, they 'remember' each other so you just have to hit the button once if they get turned off. They do not need to be close to each other to re-pair, mine are about 175 feet apart and they find each other without issue. The sound quality is very good, and they get VERY loud. We normally operate them at about 40% volume, and that is plenty loud to hear as we are riding around. I would recommend these for anything you need a big sound for. I would not get these to use indoors, because I think you'd blow your eardrums out ... show more
