I’ve had several of Altecs smaller speakers, this is the first one I’ve bought that’s a little larger. Sound is obviously much better than the little ones but the battery only lasts 2, maybe 3 hours straight off the charger.

When the product arrived which took about a week, even though it was prime. Packaging was in good shape and everything was there that should of. I read the instructions and followed them. Charged the speaker for about 5 hours and the red power light never turned off which according to instructions was when it was completely done charging. So I let it keep going. After about 8 hours I gave up and tried to turn it on... nothing, wouldn't power up. Tried it again this time plugged in and still the same result. So I have returned the product and will update review when return is complete and I order and receive new product. I have always loved Altec Lansing since high school in the 90's with my car stereo speakers. This will be my 3rd Altec Lansing speaker in about 10 yrs. So I'm hoping the new one will be working. (Update) got the new one and it works. Now this is supposed to be a waterproof speaker, I took it to the pool yesterday and just wanted to test it out. I ensured charging ports were covered then simple placed the speaker in the water to float. It floated with 1 set of speakers completely in the water so I think somethings off there. I pulled the speaker out pretty quick. Now I think that little test completely killed the battery. The charge after that was done in less then 2 hours. So I charged it up again and now the battery life is even shorter. If I keep it plugged in it works, unplugged it dies almost instantly. This speaker sounds great, but it's NOT waterproof

These bluetooth speakers have rechargeable batteries so that you can take the speaker anywhere u need to go. It's lightweight and easy to carry anywhere. The lights float like water and move to the beat of your msic. The speaker is easy to use and understand how to use and wasn't hard for my elderly parents to figure out how to use it. The sound is amazing for the size and it sounds like a huge speaker

I have a hydrashock(the bigger hydraboom) and it is fantastic. I keep this one at work and I wanted a smaller one to use at home, and at the lake. It's perfect. The first one I received didn't work, but the replacement has been flawless! I recommend either speakers. the hydraboom is half the size of the hydrashock, but delivers about half the volume. But it is still plenty loud for general music listening. If you are in an area with a lot of background noise I recommend the hydrashock. I use my hydrashock at a repair shop and it can be heard clean across the shop.

Sound quality is great but rattles a bit with bassier songs, and isn't quite as loud as you'd think for its size. Only lasts about 8 hours on blast from a full charge as well.
