I have a hydrashock(the bigger hydraboom) and it is fantastic. I keep this one at work and I wanted a smaller one to use at home, and at the lake. It's perfect. The first one I received didn't work, but the replacement has been flawless! I recommend either speakers. the hydraboom is half the size of the hydrashock, but delivers about half the volume. But it is still plenty loud for general music listening. If you are in an area with a lot of background noise I recommend the hydrashock. I use my hydrashock at a repair shop and it can be heard clean across the shop. ... show more

Overall pretty good. Not as loud as i would like but decent sound. The lights it has is a nice effect. If i play it at full volume for longer than 20 min it shuts off and doesnt turn back on for a few hours. Dont know if its just a fluke with mine or not but not a big enough deal for me to return due to how i use it. Overall good for the money but is better for indoor listening than outdoor ... show more

Purchased the Hydraboom for its waterproof feature to take it on a river float. Not only did it work, it withstood direct sunlight for 6 hours and the battery lasted the whole trip. 10/10 would recommend. Good job Altec Lansing.

When the product arrived which took about a week, even though it was prime. Packaging was in good shape and everything was there that should of. I read the instructions and followed them. Charged the speaker for about 5 hours and the red power light never turned off which according to instructions was when it was completely done charging. So I let it keep going. After about 8 hours I gave up and tried to turn it on... nothing, wouldn't power up. Tried it again this time plugged in and still the same result. So I have returned the product and will update review when return is complete and I order and receive new product. I have always loved Altec Lansing since high school in the 90's with my car stereo speakers. This will be my 3rd Altec Lansing speaker in about 10 yrs. So I'm hoping the new one will be working. (Update) got the new one and it works. Now this is supposed to be a waterproof speaker, I took it to the pool yesterday and just wanted to test it out. I ensured charging ports were covered then simple placed the speaker in the water to float. It floated with 1 set of speakers completely in the water so I think somethings off there. I pulled the speaker out pretty quick. Now I think that little test completely killed the battery. The charge after that was done in less then 2 hours. So I charged it up again and now the battery life is even shorter. If I keep it plugged in it works, unplugged it dies almost instantly. This speaker sounds great, but it's NOT waterproof ... show more
