Description

The Commander Lite is based on the design of our best-selling Commander pack and features a smaller profile which allows for easier movement. The unique lashing system secures meat for long hauls, and includes three extension lashing straps for extra capacity. The lightweight aluminum frame makes the pack light yet strong, and the Hypalon lashing points provide additional external storage. The lashing panels all feature full length zippered pockets with interior mesh pockets, perfect for additional gear. The shoulder harness is fully adjustable to a torso range of 17” – 23”. A padded waist belt as well as padded shoulder straps make this a very comfortable pack to wear. The waist belt can accommodate clip style holsters so you can securely carry a hand gun. The back of the back is constructed using mesh for maximum ventilation. In 2007 ALPS Mountaineering introduced ALPS OutdoorZ to offer high quality gear for the hunting market. I used this pack for archery elk hunting. It was a bit stiff at first but took some time to loosen up. I packed out several elk quarters on a 2 1/2 mile trip(one way). The meat quarters stayed securely in the pack and was a comfortable fit. I would have given it a five star rating accept that it is very squeaky. Very difficult to put a stalk on an animal and be able to hear with the squeak occurring with every step. The squeak comes from the joining part where the waist pad intersects with the pack. The waist pad is removable. Also, there is no place for a pistol holster for those of us who hunt bear country. ... show more

Fantastic! Very impressed with the quality. It is more comfortable than the mystery ranch pack that I had. Perfect amount of pockets in all the right places. The rain gaurd comes with it for no extra cost, with its own little storage at the bottom. I'm very impressed. I haven't hauled anything with it yet. But it feels that the weight would be evenly distributed. If this one ever wears out I will be buying another one without a doubt. The pack is awesome! It’s comfortable, strong and well worth the money. I can carry everything I need for a lengthy hike/hunt. The only flaw Ive found is that it’s a bit squeaky. It kinda sounds like lodgepole pines rubbing together but if it’s dead silent, that’s all I can hear when I breathe and walk. I can’t pinpoint if it’s coming from the straps or the foam padding. I’m totally satisfied, just a thought for the engineering department. Haha. ... show more

I use this as a day or two-day hunting/hiking pack. The most versatile I have found and if you have a successful hunt you can pack out meat whiteout needing to wash down bag and bring your gear with you when packing out.

This was the perfect backpack for my Alaska hunting trip. It was very comfortable, and so versatile with all the compartments. When the meat hit the ground, this pack shined. The cargo side of this pack was superb. Loaded up to probably a 70# to 80# pack it was still comfortable and the weight distribution was great. The quality of construction was also very good.
