Description

Pack light. Climb fast. Stay silent. The XOP Solo Scout 16L is built for saddle hunters and mobile hang-and-hunt hunters who cover ground and carry their own setup. The external carry system takes a saddle platform, a hang-on treestand, or a stack of climbing sticks and locks it flat to the back of the pack, so your stand becomes the frame and the weight rides tight and centered instead of swinging on the climb. Inside, 16 liters of usable space swallows the rest of the system - ropes, bridge, tether, lineman's belt, extra layers, calls, knives, and a kill kit - with a hydration sleeve for a bladder so you are not stopping to dig for water. MOLLE webbing runs across the front panel, both sides, and the waist belt, so a saddle pouch, dump pouch, bino harness, or rangefinder case goes exactly where your hands expect it. The shell is 500D Cordura Truelock with premium YKK zippers: abrasion-resistant, weather-ready, and quiet when it drags a branch in the dark. EVA foam padding on the shoulder straps and waist belt, plus a vented back panel, keeps a loaded pack comfortable on long walk-ins, and adjustable torso length dials in the fit for hunters between 17 and 21 inches.     • Slimmer profile than I expected, but the build quality is impressive
Went in expecting a bit more bulk based on the listing photos, and it's actually a slimmer pack in person than I pictured. Wasn't a dealbreaker though, if anything it makes sense once you're actually moving through the woods with a stand or sticks, less bulk to snag on branches or get in the way while climbing. Where this pack really stands out is the build quality. Everything feels strong and well put together, the MOLLE frame carry system feels like it can handle real weight without flexing or feeling sketchy, which matters a lot when you're hauling a stand or climbing sticks through rough terrain. Pocket organization is probably my favorite part though, there's a spot for pretty much everything, and it makes packing for a hunt way more organized than just tossing gear into one big compartment like a lot of packs force you to do. Being hydration ready is a nice bonus too, one less thing to figure out separately. Slimmer than expected, but everything else about the build and functionality more than makes up for it. The XOP SOLO SCOUT 16L Saddle Hunting Backpack for Platform & Climbing Sticks | Hang on tree stand & mobile gear hauler. MOLLE frame carry, hydration ready bow, rifle, archery, deer & elk pack is a quality pack! But then all things from XOP are! I am a loyal XOP customer and this bag doesn't disappoint. I have 2 separate saddle setups. I use this one with a larger platform and 4 sticks. It's a little smaller which is great for the setup I run with this one. This is my private land bag where I know I am not having to trek as deep as I would in public land so I don't need everything and the kitchen sink. It's durable and light with plenty of storage. It holds the platform and sticks well (Nothing ever holds them as good as I'd like) and the zippers are quiet enough and durable. The buckles (plastic) are a little noisy when they snap but otherwise I have zero complaints. ... show more

I'm very impressed with this backpack so far. It's lightweight, and the colors are fantastic. The materials and stitching are high quality, and the zippers work flawlessly. I also love the consistent MOLLE webbing, which makes it super versatile. Functionally, this bag is amazing. It offers good storage volume and has comfortable padded shoulder and waist straps, plus plenty of adjustability for varying body sizes and statures. This is a great bag. Is it $120 great? In my opinion no. It is very sturdy, it has a rigid backplate, the pockets are deep and wide, it is comfortable size that even when full does not feel heavy, the shoulder straps are nicely padded and easily adjustable. I selected this hunting backpack because I wanted something more practical for carrying a saddle setup and extra gear without everything feeling loose or awkward. After handling it, I like that it feels more purpose-built than a regular backpack. The outside straps make sense for bigger items like climbing sticks or a platform, while the inside gives enough room for the smaller pieces that usually need to stay organized. What I Like I like that this pack is made for saddle hunting gear. It feels more useful than trying to make a regular backpack work. The outside compression straps are one of the best features. They make it easier to secure larger gear flat against the pack. The reinforced attachment points feel practical. The 16L size is not huge, but it works well for essentials. There is enough room for ropes, a tether, lineman’s belt, calls, gloves, and smaller gear. The pockets help keep things from getting buried. The lid pocket is nice for items I want to reach quickly. This is a very nice saddle hunting bag. The 16L bag will hold plenty for an all day sit. The bag is well thought out and full of useful features. There are ways to secure your sticks and platform. The inside is where I think this bag shines. It is made to be hung on the tree and used to make all your gear readily available. The flap is a pocket and there are two hollow tubes with retention bands to hold calls, water bottles, gloves a rain coat or anything like that. There is a good description of all the features in product description so I just wanted to point out some of the not so obvious features. A good bit of molle on the bag so you could add a bunch of accessories if you wanted. It is a very lightweight bag. The colors are subdued and it really looks good. The shoulder straps are very comfortable and you could carry this a long way if you needed in comfort. There is a place for a water bladder if that’s what you use for hydration. ... show more
