  • Perfect fit and comfortable
Im a smaller man at 5’7” 150lbs. Sometimes a chore finding gear that fits properly. These alpine star knee guards fit perfectly and are comfortable. Sturdy construction and look effective. Better than my previous hard shell style these honeycomb design are both flexible but can take a hit. Great job

  • Fits people with larger legs (like me)
When I ride my motorcycle, I'm an ATGATT (All The Gear, All The Time) kind of guy. I always wear a helmet, armored jacket, boots, and gloves with knuckle guards. I'm old and they don't make spare parts anymore, so I have to protect what I have left. Recently I took a spill on my bike while practicing low-speed maneuvers. Luckily I was in a parking lot going 10 miles an hour. Even more luckily, I was wearing all my gear. I lost a motorcycle turn signal and bent a couple of parts, but my helmet, padded jacket, and gloves kept my body almost completely road-rash free. The only part of me that took a hit was my knee, which landed pretty hard and dragged along the ground. Not terrible, but I'll be feeling it for a couple of weeks. If I'd worn knee guards, I would have walked away from this accident without a single scratch. As soon as I got back to the house (yes, I rode the bike home), I took a couple of ibuprofen and sat down to research knee protectors. I settled on these because I know the Alpinestars name and because they looked like they would provide good protection. I was surprised that these were only about $40. Usually Alpinestars gear is a bit more pricy. I was a bit skeptical about the quality considering the price was so low, but the overall excellent reviews convinced me. One of the questions I had was about fitment. I'm a powerlifter, I weigh well north of 200 pounds, and I have large legs. My thighs are in the 25" range last time I measured and my calves are thick too. I read several reviews where people complained that these pads did not fit larger legs, but one reviewer who is both taller and 100lbs. heavier than me said they worked fine. I decided to give them a shot. If they didn't work, I'd return them and try again. When I received them, I immediately tried them on over the pants that I was wearing at the time (a pair of work slacks). Yes, the straps are snug. They're supposed to be-- that's what keeps them from moving around on your leg. The straps are elastic and, while they're not as comfortable as going without, they're definitely not too small for my legs. If anything, I'm worried that the elastic will stretch over time. If it does, I'll replace it or make new straps. I also don't know how these will hold up if I end up sliding over asphalt. They feel like they'll stand up to impact just fine, but a slide may shift them out of position. But they're still way better than nothing, and I'm not sure any knee protector will be any better. If I'd had these last week, I wouldn't be limping up and down stairs. Yes, I still have some reservations about these pads. For $40, I consider them a good, basic form of knee protection, but not necessarily what I'll ultimately end up using. I'll evaluate them and continue to research gear. In the meantime, I'll wear these when I go out riding, because they're still pretty secure and WAY better than another skinned knee. Yes, I'm going to wear these over my pants. No, I don't care if I look like a poser. I'll look even worse if I low-side it in a corner and abrade my skin down to the bone. Are these the only knee guards you'll need on a motorcycle? Not necessarily. Are they a valuable part of your protective riding arsenal? Absolutely. Buy them, try them, and if you need different gear, spend the money on something else. You'll only regret it until you take your first spill. UPDATE: Wore these on a ride for the first time today. The ride was about 40 minutes and I wore these over slacks because I was going to work. They stayed in place and felt quite secure. Not too tight and no loss of circulation or anything. I'd say they're comfortable enough for extended riding. UPDATE 2: I've been wearing these consistently (3-4 times a week) for my commute to work on my bike, and on the weekends as well. They're a bit hot in the summer, but I don't care-- they go on EVERY time I get on my bike. They're awesome. I've gotten used to wearing them so I don't even notice they're on my legs, and they're comfortable even when I ride my sport bike, which has me in a fairly scrunched up position with my knee at a pretty acute angle. They're not comfortable to walk around in so whenever I get to where I'm going, I take them off and toss them in my helmet along with my riding gloves. They're not difficult to put on/take off and it's become second nature at this point. I hope I never need these things but I'm glad I have them. ... show more

  • It is a PAIR! Just to be clear, not a single knee guard. Great fit and protection for the money.
The media could not be loaded. They are slim which I like, they seem to give plenty of protection from busting your knee cap or getting road rash on your knees. I paid $40 and would gladly pay $50, if the price went to $60 then I’d say the fit isn’t comfortable enough to be worth it, but as it is right now, these are the best knee guards you can get for under $50 by a long shot as far as I know. ... show more

  • Fits good but light protection impact.
Fit me perfectly but if you have large calf's then it'll be iffy. The fabric is very breathable and comfortable. Only downside is the protection. The plastic is flimsy and doesn't offer a lot of impact protection unlike a hard plastic knee cap with cushion underneath. Light protection. It's much better than nothing but you'll still feel pain if you land directly on knees. ... show more

  • The large size is good for the knee. Not the entire leg
It’s flexible and of good quality. Don’t go down the entire leg. So you have space for boots

  • Works!
Breathes well. As comfortable as expected for entry level gear. Preformed well. Well worth the money. Stumbled on these while price checking helmets. I wrecked on a patch of loose gravel taking the corner too fast. I took the brunt of the hit with my forearm and knee. I definitely hit my knee into the ground hard. These preformed fabulously! Just slight bruising above the pad. It gave enough cushion that there was one small contact point on the ground instead of my entire leg. Well worth the money! ... show more
