    • Some surprises, overall great
6/2/21 UPDATE: Hum has faded almost completely over the last month without me doing anything. Adding a star! Will likely try the smaller fountain from the same company for another location. ORIGINAL: I keep this fountain indoors in a 15x20, high-ceilinged sunroom. I've used it about a month. Some things that might be helpful to know: 1) The hum is very distinct. I've tried moving the motor around inside, but perhaps because it's indoors and against a wall, I can hear it distinctly from 20 feet away. It's not really a bad noise, but if you're hoping for a zen experience with just the sound of water, be advised. 2) The rock looks more quality than I expected, but is clearly not real rock (not that I wanted anyone to believe I have an actual water spring in my house). It reminds me of the heavily lacquered rocks around outdoor amusement parks like Disneyland. The arrangement of the "stones" looks more natural than I expected (some of the fountains I've looked at look like the rocks are hanging unnaturally off the front; this fountain looks like it might have been modeled on something built with actual rocks and mortar). 3) I had a warranty issue at first and the company was very nice to work with. 4) I had a problem with splashing that I traced to the shape of my floor. Patios are often shaped subtly to direct water away from the sides. This made the fountain (which was against a wall) lean forward. Putting some risers under the front solved most of the splashing. 5) The water sound is deep and more satisfying than I'd dared hope, but it's more hollow than I expected too, I think in part because of the large open interior, but also because I have it indoors. Think water being poured into water, not water splashing on stones. The multiple tiers create enough texture for the sound that it doesn't just sound like water just going into a bucket, but I have been considering trying some crushed stone or a second, smaller fountain to break up the sound even more. 6) The sound is also surprisingly powerful. I find myself raising my voice to talk when in the room, and I keep the sound on a TV in the next room turned up about 30% higher than I used to. I would not keep this in a smaller room unless you're prepared for the fountain to be doing all the talking. 7) There's no switch (I don't think there's even an automatic cut-off if water gets low), but I use this with a smart outlet that turns on the fountain at certain hours or whenever I hit the button in the app. 8) The LEDs create a shimmering, water-waving effect on even my high ceiling when the room is dark. I actually like it a lot. Seems a shame it'd be lost on everyone using this outdoors. ... show more

    • It's a great fountain that works
This came in a special delivery truck because it's a rather large box. It was very well secured in lots of stryofoam, and came with instructions about filling and treating the water. It looks great, just like the pictures, and we put it on the deck and let it run all day on its lowest setting. We cannot hear any hum, even though it's on the deck boards. The sound of the falling water is fantastic, and makes you want to sleep outside. It moves plenty of water on the low setting, and has no oversplash or splatter, even after hours of operation. ... show more

Nice fountain. Easy to install. Problem with retaining water as filter and motor isn’t consistent. Sometimes the water flows daily and sometimes it shuts off without warning. Needed a professional electrician and plumber to install item. I wish that the sound of the waterfall was louder. Beautiful but I think there’s a crack in the base that prevents it from holding water. I’ll let you know more after testing it. Don’t want to return it but may need someone to come out to look at it. ... show more

This fountain is easy to set up and recycles the water with a pump so all you need is an outlet for the pump and lights which have separate cords/plugs. I opted not to use the lights in the fountain and instead placed a solar spotlight on it to highlight the garden at night. The fountain sits in an alcove garden next to my deck and the sound is very relaxing, not too loud. I am a petite 65 year old and was able to unpack it and install it myself in about an hour. It is not too heavy to carry as it is a composite material which looks like stone. It is heavy enough to stand alone in the garden without worrying that it will fall over. Be sure to place it on a level surface. I added a non-toxic fountain maintenance liquid to the water to control algae and you do have to run it during the day to keep the water moving and clear. I will drain it in the winter so it doesn't freeze here in NY winter. I have received so many compliments on this fountain. I am very happy with it. The media could not be loaded. I absolutely ❤️ this fountain, its beautiful!!! The water flow is perfect, easy to assemble & compliments my patio area. However, I waited a few weeks to write a review, hoping the fountain I received would have no defects. So far, the pump has stopped working ... one light has gone out ... there is a small crack in the bottom & the fountain leaks ... the back cover was cracked upon arrival & does not fit properly. More often than not, when I turn on the fountain there is an odor which repels from the fountain (unsure where this comes from). I contacted Alpine directly & spoke to Shandelle, she was very pleasant over the phone & responded to my e-mails promptly. I did have to provide proof of the defects. Pictures and a small video was sent in by email. Once received, Shandelle requested a replacement fountain sent out to me to cover the defected one. Even though the first purchase was defected, I absolutely love the waterfall fountain and will rate the original purchase a 5 because it deserves it. I would most definitely order from Alpine again.
