OK, before we get into challenges, here's what I like about the Alpha Camp 2-person tent. 1) It's lightweight, and could work well as a backpacking tent. 2) Construction is sound, and materials seem to be good. The floor is a heavy duty material, and the upper is lightweight with plenty of air circulation possible 3) I like the overhead storage mesh 4) One corner of the tent as a velcro-closed access port to allow a power cord to go in without having to unzip the door (come to think of it, places I camp (Idaho) don't have electrical plugs for miles around, but you never know. 5) The door zipper is smooth, and I like the door shape and entrance sheet above ground level OK, challenges 1) The tent is smaller than advertised! According to the manufacturer, the 2-person tent is 7'x6', so imagine my surprise when I stretched out in it and the top of my head touched one end and the soles of my feet touched the other. So I got a tape measure, and even after stretching the corners as far apart as possible the actual floor dimensions were 74" x 64". That's 10" shorter in length than advertised, and 8" shorter in the width. 2) I do not recommend assembling this tent alone. I mean, I did, and I was able to manage it, but it took a LOT of pulling, stretching the tent, and multiple attempts before I was able to insert the overhead tent poles into the rods at each corner - at first I wasn't sure if I'd even be able to get it done. There are other tents out there that are a LOT easier to assemble than this one. Final thoughts... I will not use this tent unless under duress...I'm 6'1" and it's just too short for me. I don't relish the idea of my head touching one end of the tent and my feet the other. It's well constructed, but given the plethora of options out there, you don't have to settle for this one. I recommend looking at other options. 3/5 stars ... show more

Ok, so I'm glad that I didn't give up and just straight return this, 'cause the bent pole connector stumped me for a second. Turns out, that's the rain fly support and it's MADE that way ON PURPOSE! Works really nifty too. Small little pocket it slides into on the rain fly and two grommet style anchors on both sides of the tent's entry hold it upright. Regarding the tent,.... it's honestly a great tent! I'm no rocket scientist, but I figured out how to put it together inside of 10 minutes (and that's with stopping to take pictures as I went along). This isn't complicated at all. Two long poles cross over one another. Feed them through their respective sleeves, pop in one end of the pole's base pin, GENTLY bend the pole and feed the sleeve over the connectors (they catch a little here and there), and then pop in the other end of the pole's base pin. Repeat for second pole. Tie tent to the poles at the top in the middle. Toss on the rain fly, secure and you're good to go. Got a little second stumped on why there were only seven (7) tent stakes in the bag. Thought maybe shipping forgot one. Nope. That's on purpose as well. Four (4) stakes for the corners and three (3) more for the three tie down straps on the tent's rain fly. Weird how they went and thought of everything! Inside has an electrical cord slip through pocket, a rooftop gear loft, and quite honestly room enough for either two VERY large adults or more than likely a snug four of you and three friends. This tent is huge! Folds down quick and easy back into it's bag again with room to spare (I suggest a spare tent stake hammer that stays with the tent). Great tent! It'll make your next outdoor adventure an easy excursion! ... show more
