October 27, 2021 I ordered my alligator and have used it several times a week since it arrived; onions, carrots, celery, etc. The appliance is stainless steel, but the lid to contain the veggies is plastic. Over time mine has gotten loose and I have a hard time containing the veggies. I contacted alligatoronline and they responded immediately and have even offered a free replacement for the lid! I am really happy with the quality of this chopper. I chopped two good sized onions without major tears. It took a minute to figure out which back to use with the larger blade but once I did it was smooth sailing. I love this and look forward to using it a lot.

I bought this EXPENSIVE chopper believing it was indestructible. ( I was always replacing plastic ones anyway.) It has some amazing features for sure, but where there’s plastic there’s potential for breakage. The blade holder is plastic as is the clear food container atop. Treat it with care & you’re good. It’s easy to assemble & clean, & though it says not to use dishwasher, I’ve done it for years. The plastic is hard & doesn’t melt. So, either buy several cheaper ones over the years or spend a wad on this. The stainless steel part is indestructible the blades are wonderful. But without the hopper, which is kind of odd configuration, You can't collect anything that you chop you must have it. Why the collector been is on the top I don't know but if it gets a little bit full it pops off. Mine cracked on the third use. You buy a stainless steel super strong chopper for a reason and then the week plastic part breaks. There should be a stainless steel collection box ... show more

    • The plastic tabs on the blades break easy
This is a great chopper but you cannot get replacement part’s easily, and the plastic tabs are a very weak point. The first one we got broke within the 30 day return time, the second one broke in 6 months. You have to order replacement blades from Sweden, we got the wrong replacements and couldn’t get them to return correspondence after that. I recommend looking for another one, we did. ... show more

This chopper is made from stainless steel so it will stand up very well compared to the plastic ones out there. When cleaning the blades, do not use your hands as you will get cut. The plastic mesh under the blade retains any residue and if needed you can use a toothpick, etc to remove anything remaining. Also the chopper works best for softer veggies: Cucumbers, celery, onion, peppers, radishes, etc. If you try to chop harder vegetables like butternut squash , you might cause damage to the blades unless you make the slices really thin . I damaged the plastic retaining tabs on one of the blades, I suspect for this reason. The customer support was easy to contact and they promptly sent me replacement blades. Once you understand what this chopper can do you will not regret paying the higher price for the higher quality. ... show more
