Description

Allen & Heath's Xone:23 is a 2+2 channel DJ mixer packed with pro features that would normally be found in the booth of a top-rated club, including an enhanced version of the legendary Xone filter with resonance control, VCA faders, 3 band total kill EQ, illuminated switches, cross fader curve selector and styling inspired by the flagship Xone:DB4. For I/O, the mixer includes two pairs of RCA line inputs and two pairs of RCA phono inputs. Though the mixer has two faders, each of the four inputs has an independent level control to enable playing up to four simultaneous sources in the mix. It also features dedicated stereo send and return channels for integrating external effects units. The front panel of the unit includes a balanced XLR input for connecting a microphone with level, high frequency, and low frequency equalizer controls. The master outputs are on balanced XLR connectors and the mixer includes a dedicated stereo booth output, as well as a dedicated stereo record out for capturing your mixes to a portable recorder. 1/8-inch and a 1/4-inch headphone connectors enable cueing with a wide variety of DJ headphones. For control, the front panel of the mixer features gain knobs for all four channels. The four inputs are slit into left and right sides, each with a 9-segment LED light meter, separate high, mid, and low frequency total kill EQ knobs, a VCA channel fader, illuminated cue button, and an illuminated button to engage the filter on that side. The center section includes an illuminated button for engaging the external effects send/return, an illuminated button for engaging a high pass filter, an illuminated button for engaging the low pass filter, a frequency selector knob for the filter, and a VCA resonance control knob from mild to wild. The cross fader features a switchable curve for mixing or scratching. As an option, the user can replace the stock cross fader with Allen and Heath's high end Inno fader for enhanced performance (sold separately).

  • Great house mixing mixer - input gain a lil quiet
I've been using this mixer for about 6 months now, no issues at all. I mix progressive house from the early 2000's onward using this mixer and 2 turntables. The build quality is great - solid metal all around, the faders feel sturdy, the filters are good (though I don't use them very much), and the amount of outputs is impressive (2 RCA phonos, 2 channels RCA line-ins, a Mic in, 2 RCA outs, 1 pair of XLR outs.) I was using Cambridge Audio Solo preamps before I got this mixer, the preamp in here is so good I honestly don't hear much of a difference. One thing to note is that the phono inputs can be a little quiet if you don't have a higher-output DJ cartridge. I use high-end ortofon audiophile carts, and the input gain needs to be around +7 to get a proper volume. The line in inputs don't appear to have this problem. Overall a very quality mixer, it surely wouldn't compare to a $2000+ Ecler or Mastersounds, but at this price point it's hard to beat. ... show more

  • Top 2 Channel Mixer with a Quality Build
Great 2+2 channel mixer capable of supporting my XDJ-1000s just fine. The sound quality is crystal clear and all of the knobs are rubber tipped and super responsive. The lights illuminating the buttons are colorful and bright but not so bright that they make the label hard to see. This goes for the mix volume indicator as well, which clearly shows when you are redlining. The build quality of the unit is tank-like and I'm sure it wouldn't break if dropped from table height. The low pass and high pass filters work nicely and there are 3 EQ options for each channel. Also, the cue button for either channel works great and the headphone volume knob is right next to those buttons. You can also control how much of the volume in your headphones is coming from cuing and how much is coming from the overall mix. The reason I'm dinging a star is because of the crossfader. There are dead zones on both hard stops which make it hard to slightly blend tracks. Also, it feels pretty cheap and a little too light weight for my tastes. I'm going to look into the Innofader as I've heard good things about it. Personally, I've been using the upfaders to mix and keeping the crossfader right in the middle. ... show more

  • Warm as a Morning Shower
This is my first modern mixer and let me say that I am impressed with it's warmth. I recently DJed a show that actually blew out a monitor infront of me. Their sound system was not the best technically but this mixer really made it 10x greater. The total kill EQ is a must for any DJ. Every knob has a great grippy rubber on it. Although the cross fade has a small dead xone (haha), it is upgradeable to the innofader for more precise scratching techniques. The channel fades have a slight resistance to them for smooth volume decrease on the fly. Plus having a HPF and LPH on the fly is pretty handy for some if used properly. Overall this is a great bit of kit! XLR Master output ensures a power connected from what your playing to the vibrating eardrums of the audience. I gladly recommend this to anyone who doesn't want the steep price of a Pioneer. Pros: Warm Sound Responsive knobs and channel faders HPF & LPF filters built-in Total Kill EQ Cons: Crossfade dead zone ... show more

  • Almost perfect
i really wanted to give this product 5 stars. I did my research and came to the conclusion that 'this was the one for me' after owning a vestax 3 channel pcv275 for a little more than 10 years and giving it full use from gigs to gigs i needed something sturdy as so. However, after owning this a little more than over a year one fader started going out and so i was able to wiglle my way thru gigs using the crossfader to go from channel to channel and on my last gig 2 weeks ago the other fader went out as well.... by this time i already had ordered replacement faders but wtf? why should i have to do this!!! so i researched some more and found the decksaver cover on the web (haven't bought it yet cuase it's super expensive for a piece of plastic) and i'm going to replace the fadres and use the decksaver to avoid any kind of possible mistreatment on this unit. One of the sweetspots of this mixer is the analog filter... it's just beautiful - knobs are super sturdy unlike it's xone92 popular brother which those knobs seem like they will break. Anywho if you buy this mixer (and it's a very flat sounding good quality sound mixer) i would advise the decksaver case (which can only be purchased from the UK)... keep in mind those deckasvers are also limited edition. Cheers! ... show more

  • Allen and Heather
Just a great mixer in every way I was using along with my pair of Numark NDX500. I wasn't happy with them and upgraded to a compl Pioneer system. Had to return but it broke my heart. GREAT MIXER.

  • Great mixer, can't complain
Great mixer, can't complain. I have been using this mixer for about a year now and I have never had a problem with it. You can hook up your cdjs and turntables simultaneously and switch between them without having to disconnect anything. It is a small mixer within the high quality standards of Allen & Heath. I have used done 92, 42 and 62 in the past and i must say, this is the same as its bigger brothers (overall quality and sound) except its smaller and for a great price. I recommend this mixer to everyone who's looking for a great product without breaking the bank! ... show more

The sound from the wone 23:2+2 is simply amazine. The process to transform the 2 phonos into lines (making the mixer into full 4 input channels) is also easy (follow the manufacturer's user guide). The total kill on all channels and effects is also impecable. In addition I use an external effect processor with the send/return RCA ports. Recommend this product. ... show more
