Our bright over indulged granddaughter loved it. It functions in various ways. She positioned a tiny stuffed toy in its arms and made for it to play hide and seek with an adult hiding from the robot with the stuffed toy. Unlike others we did not think it was too loud. We think it has to be this loud for a child to enjoy it. We are neither noise nor mess averse. It was a great gift that occupied her for hours.

I got this for my son for Christmas... the volume is not controllable and it is set on HIGH. I can't even begin to explain to you how LOUD this thing is. It's cute and fun for the kids, don't get me wrong - but as a parent, I don't recommend based on the volume alone. Love the rechargeable aspect and easy controls - volume is horrid, however.
