Top Amazon Reviews

🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The Amazon Kindle Fire 7 is a budget-friendly tablet that offers users seamless access to Amazon services, good battery life, expandable storage, and suitable for media consumption such as reading and watching videos. However, users have reported limitations such as slower performance compared to premium devices, lack of fast charging, and lack of support for some external apps and downloads. The screen resolution and portability have also been praised, but some users have reported issues with the limitations of SD storage.

Pros

  • 🔋 Remarkable battery life
  • 📺 Good screen resolution for reading and watching videos
  • 💼 Perfect size for portability
  • 📦 Expandable storage with an SD card slot
  • 💰 Affordable compared to other tablets
  • 👍 Seamless access to Amazon services like Prime Video, Audible, and Kindle books

Cons

  • 🐢 Slow performance compared to premium devices
  • 🔌 Lack of fast charging capabilities
  • 📲 Some apps might not be available on the Amazon Appstore
  • 💾 Some apps do not support being moved to the SD card
  • 📥 Difficulties in downloading certain content, especially to the SD card

Should I Buy It?

If you're searching for a cost-effective tablet mainly for media consumption like watching videos and reading, especially if you're heavily invested in Amazon's ecosystem, then this could be a great choice, despite its few limitations. However, if you require a high-performance device for more demanding tasks or apps not available on the Amazon Appstore, you might want to consider other options.

  • 12th Generation (2022) Version is almost perfect
Digital Storage Capacity: 16 GB Offer Type: Lockscreen Ad-Supported Color: Black Style: Fire 7
So I only just got this and thought I'd share my initial review and hopefully answer questions that others might have that has been difficult to find answers for. Size differences As most have already seen, this version is different from the previous in shape and size, yes it is slightly smaller. For most users who had the previous version, the kicker is that your covers and cases etc. are no longer compatible. Also the Charger uses USB-C plug also which is different from the previous versions. In terms of performance This is night and day in comparison to the older versions. The older version was slick when it first came out but like most people know, the FireOS is basically Android and as more and more updates have been applied, the older version is now running really slow. So basically this new version hardware was tailored for the today's version of android thus it runs very fast and very slick, this is a very crucial issue. NO YOUTUBE KIDS APP The biggest issue anyone will encounter and is well known about is that this does not have the Google Play Store or accompanying services. That means that IT DOES NOT HAVE THE NATIVE YOUTUBE KIDS APP. There are many people on here that simply either don't understand what a native app is or simply confuse it with the main Youtube. I myself had multiple answers that failed to answer this basic question with multiple contradictory answers or reviews that failed to understand the question. Amazon FIRE tablets DO NOT HAVE YOUTUBE KIDS Apps. Amazon has their own Youtube.com app which it seems they created as the developer email address for that app is an amazon.com email address. When you click YOUTUBE KIDS link in that app it jumps to the browser and opens in the browser which is a terrible experience. It is strange given that on the fire TV, the YouTube app allows you to switch to kids profiles, if only Amazon would do that for their tablet youtube app. But until then What you have are 3rd party apps built by you know who on the AppStore that plays youtube. They are not native apps, nor do they support most of the functionality as is. They are not written by Youtube, Google or Amazon either, so if you want to give those apps your google login which is used for Youtube Kids then you do so at your own risk. YES YOU CAN INSTALL YOUTUBE KIDS NATIVE APP, BUT YOU HAVE TO DO IT YOURSELF. I don't know why nor will I try to even get into this very very old topic of not having youtube kids, but the GOOD news is that it is very simple and easy to get Youtube kids native apps on this 12th gen version. You don't need to be a modder or anything intense. But a simple web search will tell you how to do this. Just know that you will have to install 4 different google apps/services first to get the Play Store. This is even easier as you simply open the browser, download each of them from the website and Click to install. DONE AND DUSTED. Once you have the Play Store you can easily install any of the native youtube Kids apps or even the original Youtube app from google and even login to your tablet with your gmail account. I was able to do this in 30 minutes. With YouTube Kids installed. I am now able to give this 10 Stars. This is basically very decent hardware and latest OS for $60. You cannot go wrong with this as a kids tablet especially with the ability from Amazon to quickly lock this down. Touch Screen is extremely responsive I have struggled to find a decent priced kids tablet that is responsive enough to use the ANTON app without lag. This is the fastest tablet I have seen at this price point. For those that haven't used ANTON, it is by far the best app for teaching your kids. It has school derived lessons, I would recommend every parent should download ANTON. But it's writing lessons, needs a screen that is responsive and a fairly decent tablet. This tablet passes the ANTON test with a gold star. Sound is clear with some bass. It doesn't sound like a tin can. Sound quality is very loud and clear. Trust me, if you've been through the dozen kids tablets I have, you will be surprised how much of a let down it would be when you have poor sound. Kids need to hear clearly and this does it without issues. The Amazon AppStore itself is actually pretty good. All the apps we had on our old android tablet were available except for Youtube Kids. I'd imagine there are many more that are not available but most of the decent kids ones are on there including ANTON, ABC Kids etc I would think that since the FireTV Youtube app allows kids profiles, that Amazon would at some point do the same with their own tablet Youtube app. As it is right now this table is almost perfect especially once I was able to manually install play store and youtube kids easily. I'm ordering a second one. ... show more

  • This tablet can be used as a flight monitor for drones ...sort of.
I purchased this tablet for one reason: To use it as a monitor for my DJI drone. I originally was going by a video that claimed that everything Amazon could be removed from the tablet using Fire Toolbox...but that didn't seem to work for me. I had one thought...how about just loading the DJI Fly app on the tablet, and run it. I thought loading the DJI app might fail because of the app's APK. I was told that wouldn't work, but it did, and the included screen-shot shows the image taken by the DJI Mini 2 drone, displayed on the tablet, wired successfully to the controller. The second photo is of the Fire 7 menu screen, showing the DJI app on the left. Tapping on it brings up the DJI Fly app. One problem that has been suggested to me is that the RTH (Return to Home) won't work, since the Fire 7 doesn't have GPS. I'm going to try things out tonight and see if everything works. Especially the RTH function. ... show more

  • Enjoyable for most readers
This is a lovely little device. The colors are clean, formats are adjustable, and the antenna is light years better than its predecessors. The apps and features seem excessive to a longtime Paperwhite fan, and the available cases are bulky and uncomfortable for hand arthritis sufferers. This will only be a problem for a minority of purchasers. I am keeping the Fire and will use it for ebooks with color illustrations. The bulk of my reading, though, will be done on the feather light Paperwhite. ... show more

  • Great FOR THE PRICE
I was an early Kindle Fire adapter, but I think the last one I bought was in 2017. So this one is definitely a step up from that. I just got tired of the Fire OS - it was too locked up and not as robust as regular Android. Plus, there is one mindless Android game that I love that isn't available in the Amazon App Store, so that's a thing. I like to talk a lot before getting to the actual review. Sorry. Context is important for me. ***Actual review*** I decided to buy a new Fire because I wanted something a little larger than my phone screen (I have a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, which actually has a pretty large screen) to watch movies on when on vacation. Fires tend to be cheaper than most tablets, so I looked there first. This came up with decent specs for an amazing price, so I bought one. Then realized that it wouldn't be out until 6/29. I got it yesterday and set it up. Here are my impressions: Kindle Fire 7 with 32gb storage & no ads. Pros - Perfect size to watch movies on an airplane tray table - Decent screen resolution (my eyesight isn't what it used to be, and this is still better than everything I had growing up) - Made for Amazon environment, so Prime Video, Audible, and Kindle books work great. Mostly. - Most of the apps I use are in the Amazon Appstore - I paid $94 to get this without ads and to get the 32gb size - that's way cheaper than a comparable name brand tablet anywhere else (I'm looking at you Samsung & Apple!) - There's an expandable memory slot - I have a 128gb micro SD card in there (It makes you format the card before you can use it) - USB-C cord!!!!!! I don't know when Fires switched to this, but I'm glad they finally did - Amazing battery life. I downloaded a whole bunch of shows and also reset a couple of times. Then downloaded again. After several hours of aggressive usage, it's still at 66%. Cons - Wow, this is slow. I'm comparing it to my phone, which is technically top of the line as of last November, and this is slow. It's also $1400 less than I paid for my phone, so while it's annoying, it's not enough to knock off a whole star. - Can't fast charge. Not a huge issue because the battery is pretty big & I have to sleep sometime, but still. - Can't download the one game I want from the Play store. Yes, I know that there's a way to do it, but it's annoying that it's not easy out of the box. - Not all the customer service people know enough about this to help when you have issues. (Yeah, technically not the unit's fault, but as someone who was DM'ing with them for 2 hours yesterday and talked with 4 different people, I'm putting this con somewhere!) - Can't save Prime Video content to the SD card. At least you can't download there. That's why I got the card. I'm not sure I can transfer Prime Videos between internal & SD yet. I think this is the same for all Amazon content. - I kept getting "service_error" when I downloaded tv episodes that I had purchased, even when the episodes weren't on another device. According to Customer Service, you can only have them on 2 devices. I only had them on one, and I deleted them off that one, and I still kept getting the error. TL;DR: This is a really, really good tablet, bordering on great FOR. THE. PRICE! The form factor is awesome for travel, and as long as you play in Amazon's sandbox, the experience is mostly good. I did have a lot of problems downloading episodes, which is actually why I bought this in the first place, and I don't like that you can't download Amazon content to the SD card. I'm not sure if there are legal reasons for that, but I don't like it. ... show more

  • Excellent product
This is my favorite Kindle ever and I've had multiple ones. It's easy to carry and read and I use it everyday. Because of a Prime Day Sale and trade in offer on an older one I got an excellent price. I ❤️ my Kindle and Kindle Unlimited!
