  • Amazing for the price! Beautiful sounding once tuned
For less than $100 you get the violin with one bow (a spare would have been nice but not necessary), a decent case, rosin, a second set of strings, and an accurate sticker you can install under the strings for beginners/extremely rusty people like me that actually is spot on with the finger placements if installed correctly! I played for about 12 years through high school, then hadn’t played since 2004 when joined the Army until this year. I didn’t know what to expect with the price, but my brother and I played Pachebelles Canon with a piano accompaniment (after much familiarization from me lol) and it sounded just as good as his very expensive violin! My only complaint would be that it has to be tuned every time before playing, and the kit didn’t include a shoulder rest which are easy to get. It holding a tune better will improve upon more frequent use, and I think I will install a very high quality set of strings soon that may help with it as well. Even though the included strings sound great already once tuned. Mine was ready to go out the box just expect to rosin the bow a lot at first to get it to grip and make a sound, tune her up, and get a shoulder rest and your playing will impress anywhere my friends! Thanks to the manufacturer as well for offering such a nice affordable product! ... show more

  • Very good value for money
This is an affordable instrument, with a pleasing sound, given its price tag. Strings are not high quality, but acceptable. This is not my first purchase from Aliyes, and it won't be my last.

  • Piece of crap, useless garbage product...
Piece of crap. For beginners who desire to be a violin technician because everything about this product breaks. Completely useless!!! I regret buying this for my son based on “beginner” price. I should have spent extra on a quality product rather than watching my sons disappointment while it malfunctions, crushing his interest. I would have much rather given you $100 for nothing if you had knocked on my door rather than expecting something in exchange for my money. Thank you for nothing. ... show more

  • Better than I thought!
After taking some time to play around with it, it turned out way better than I expected. While the rosin was a bit cracked, everything else was in excellent condition. I do want to point out though that it is a bit hard to tune, but not impossible. But for the price you pay it’s not bad at all. I also had a bit of trouble with rosining the bow, but all you have to do is scratch of the shiny layer off the rosin and your set to rosin your bow. Overall, great instrument. Happy Playing! ... show more

  • Violin probably ok for beginners, need to buy a better bow to start with.
I’m still using it after two years. I agree with the product description that the violin does produce a nice clear tone except for the A string which is a bit tinny. UPDATE: The current description does not describe the included bow so I have removed my comment saying that their bow description was wrong. However, the bow that came with the outfit was not good and I would suggest buying something like a carbon fiber bow from fiddlerman if after a week or two you decide you are going to pursue violin as a hobby. Also, maybe not be too quick to change out the strings for a better set. They feel like low tension steel strings which ought to feel better to beginners and they seem to be very responsive. I eventually did upgrade the strings to D’Addario low tension Prelude strings which at least felt better that what was included. So, if you or your child are committed to playing the violin for a year then you might want to start out with a better outfit. But I think this could work for people who are on the fence and just want to see what it is like to play and then go from there. ... show more

  • Great for the money
My daughter just started taking violin lessons and came home and loved the violin

  • Satisfied violin customer
It came and and thought the box was empty, as it was so light. It came with everything pictured. I was slightly disappointed that it didn’t come with even the most basic of instructions. This is of course, a basic beginners violin. Usually violin instructors will help with everything needed for students. I had a slight idea of what I needed to do for the bow and tuning. I used my iPhone with an app for tuning the violin. And did what I could to tune it the best I could. As always take care not to over tighten the pegs. They could be a bit loose so you may want to push the pegs in further to prevent loosening. Rosining up the bow was a bit tricky but after viewing some YouTube videos I was able to find a way to rosin the bow. It was recommended using sand paper however I found emery boards worked well too. Overall, even after reading some of the negative comments, I was willing to make the small sacrifice of $70 and I feel it was worth it. It came strung up, the extra strings, and everything pictured. I am completely satisfied with this purchase. ... show more
