    • Sharp Surfacing Tool with Short Shank
This surfacing end mill is sharp and performs well. The shank is short and I had to lower my router to make the tool work. A longer shank would have been better.

Unfortunately this bit doesn't hold up. At first it was a 5 star product all day. Then.... After a few uses it started to burn and get tremendously hot. I used the feeds and speeds from the manufacturer as well as adjusting them with the feeds and speeds of similar proct after the issue started , without success. Still leaves a clean cut and flat bottom but will burn the wood , leave the shop smoked out and take your finger prints of in the end of you touch it. Just ordered the Whiteside equivalent and will be trying it instead. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. My plan is to use this for flattening small live-edge slabs with a homemade rail jig for my hand-held router. I'm still building the jig and waiting for the slabs to dry. For now, I put this bit in the router table just to do some test cuts. It worked amazingly well. It's extremely sharp. It cut effortlessly through some pieces of redwood. Literally, on the first pass (shown in the video), I thought I had set the bit too low and it wasn't cutting. Almost no resistance. The profile was very flat and flawless. Even on deeper cuts, it was smooth and efficient. I like the little plastic storage case as well, with labels so I can quickly find what I need. The bit seems to be very well made, with good quality material, at a reasonable price point. I examined it carefully for any imperfections and found none. I'm very impressed with this bit.
