I've been extremely impressed with the Alesis Recital Pro MKII. For anyone looking for a full-size 88-key digital piano with realistic feel and excellent sound quality without spending a fortune, this instrument is hard to beat. The weighted hammer-action keys feel remarkably close to an acoustic piano, making practice sessions much more enjoyable and helping build proper technique. The key response is smooth and expressive, whether I'm playing classical pieces, jazz, or modern pop songs. I had the 2019 Recital Pro model and it served me very well till the sustain jack went out. I bought this one thinking it would be basically the same. I’m sending it back. 3 big downgrades from the last model: 1. The line out jack is mono instead of stereo. 2. There’s no LCD screen, so transposing and other settings are much harder to set. 3. The default piano sounds like a toy keyboard now, while the previous model had a piano sound that was perfectly fine for small gigs. ... show more

I’m very impressed with the Alesis Recital Pro MKII. For the price, it offers a lot of features and feels like a very solid beginner-to-intermediate digital piano. The 88 weighted hammer-action keys give a much more realistic playing experience than unweighted keyboards, and the adjustable touch response makes it easy to tailor the feel to different playing styles. The built-in speakers sound clear and strong enough for home practice, and the 25 included voices add some nice variety. I also like the useful practice features such as Lesson Mode, Split/Layer functions, and the built-in metronome. The included sustain pedal, music rest, and power adapter make it ready to use right out of the box. USB MIDI and audio connectivity are also a big plus.     • The Alesis Recital Pro MKII is a Step in the Wrong Direction
Style: Recital Pro MK2
Definitely a downgrade from the previous Alesis Recital Pro. First, and most importantly, the downgrade from 128 note maximum polyphony to 64 note maximum polyphony is a huge problem. I have tested this keyboard and some voices run out of polyphony after 24 notes. This is because some voices are in stereo which uses 2 notes with every key press. Add another voice and use the sustain pedal and earlier notes are dropping off way too early. Big let down! Second, I have to agree with an earlier reviewer regarding the grand piano sound. The lower notes are very bad sounding: they sound like a toy piano, shrill, overtones emphasized rather than the foundation tone. Other voices sound OK. None are really good to outstanding, in my opinion. Perhaps, it is the small speaker size and/or the low amplifier wattage to drive the speakers, which is... Number 3, inadequate sound from the speakers and amplifier. Fourth, my FM Piano voice malfunctions from D#6 through G#6, i.e. you must strike the keys with much more velocity to get sound from them than the rest of the keys. For me and the keyboard I received, this makes using the FM Piano voice a total non-starter. I opened up a ticket with Alesis/Inmusic. They were very attentive and kind, but were unable to rectify the situation, so offered me Electric Piano software called "Air Electric" as a consolation prize. If you do get this keyboard, check your FM Piano voice at D#6 through G#6 to see if yours is working when you have touch sensitivity ON. On the plus side, all other voices work normally. Alesis now includes a sustain pedal accessory, which was not the case with the older Recital Pro keyboard. However, it is a strictly ON/OFF pedal, so you will not be able to do any half-damping with it. Connectivity is simple with a older-style USB Type B cable. I connected the Recital Pro to my Windows 11 Laptop to do some sleuthing for the repair ticket for the FM Piano problem. It was an easy, plug-and-play connection. I am impressed with the weighted feel of the keybed. A new student will be able to get a feel for how a true mechanical piano feels, not a synthesizer, spring-loaded feel, to develop finger strength and confidence. Also, there are significantly more voices on the MKII Recital Pro than the older one. The biggest let downs for me are the unforgivable reduction in max polyphony from 128 to 64, which has an extremely deleterious effect on the usability of the keyboard past the beginner stage, the "plinky" sound of the main piano voice, the bad effect of the small speakers and underpowered amp on all voices when played through the keyboard's sound system, and the non-usability of FM Piano voice, due to velocity issues at D#6 through G#6. To me, this MKII Recital Pro is geared strictly for new/beginners learning piano, not anyone who has progressed past that stage. And, again, the reduction in max polyyphony from 128 to 64 is absolutely unforgivable! ... show more

After being thoroughly impressed with the Alesis drum set, we decided to order the digital piano. As a family new to playing, I am quite happy with this. I love the feel of the weighted keys, and the sound is quite good to my untrained ears. It arrived well packaged and included the music rest, sustain pedal and a power supply, plus lessons via Skoove and Melodics. We were able to pick up an inexpensive Amazon Basics keyboard stand to put it on that works well for us. The headphone jack will be handy when we start lessons, though it would have been nice to include the USB cable, since it's a USB Type-B, which isn't as widely found in households as Type-C, per se. Compared to other weighted keyboards, this one is priced on the lower end. ... show more

This is a decent keyboard though the sound output is mono and the sound quality is not up to par with previous products from Alesis. I'm not sure why they downgraded it but at times it sounds like a keyboard that is 1/3 the price. Still, it's the right size and comes with a pedal that works well.
