This was installed this past week, so I can't yet speak to durability. For what I've experienced thus far, it not only powers the unit, but also keeps the rechargeable battery topped up. Ring will recommend that you change from battery to wired mode in the Ring App, so I don't know if skipping that step might lead to any of the reliability issues a couple of others have reported. I did so and everything is working flawlessly on my camera. I also note that one very negative review states that it's unreliable on a Ring Spotlight Cam. That makes sense, and why it's important to actually READ the product description, since the seller states specifically that there are a few models that the cable isn't compatible with and the Spotlight Cam is one of them. Another gave a one star review because it wouldn't independently power the camera without a battery also being installed. Again, the product description says this: "Weatherproof Charger Cable for Outdoor Cam". See? It's a CHARGING CABLE. It's wrong to negatively review a product when the seller told you clearly, up front, that it won't do what you want it to do. The long cord length is hugely helpful and allowed me a lot of flexibility on where I sent it. We have vinyl siding, so I wanted to pick the entry into the house to be the least obvious, which the long cord allowed me to do. Because it's a flat cord, I was also able to hide it behind the white trim of the house by gently prying it back from the siding edge. I still have to seal the hole I drilled from the outside. Note: a 1/2 inch hole is plenty to feed the USB-C connection through. Zip tied to a couple of other cables that run to the house, it practically disappears. ... show more

I pit up an outdoor security camera but had no where to hardwire it so figured I'd try this out! I ran it from the top of my second story to my garage and plugged it right into my garage outlet. The length made it so much easier and cheaper than hiring someone to hardwire my system. Plugged it in and it's been perfect, functional and my security camera has stayed on 24/7 no problem even in the rain and cold weather. The durability, stability, great value and quality is superb! Know how many feet you need before ordering to make sure yours reaches. So far this works as described with my Outdoor Cam Plus, and I appreciate the clips that were provided to secure the long cord. I have this plugged in inside my garage with the cord going through the upper trim part of my garage door. I hope it lasts!

    • Unreliable power
I purchased this for my mom's brand new Ring Spotlight Cam on November 24, 2024 and got it, and installed it, just a few days later (I have 3 similar power cords on my own Spotlight Cams and they've all worked great for over a year but they were no longer available so I tried this one). About 2 weeks after, we started noticing that the camera/lights would just stop working for short periods here and there but when I would troubleshoot, the little blue and red lights were still on on the front of the camera so I never realized that it was losing POWER. I figured it was losing wifi connection or maybe something else above my pay grade, plus it was so intermittent that I didn't REALLY worry about it and forgot about it. Fast forward to this past week (January 22, 2025) and the camera completely stopped working. I knew that I was running out of time before I couldn't return the camera anymore (I still didn't realize it was the cord) so I called customer service for help. After about 20 min if trying different fixes, we figured out it was the cord. I immediately ordered another, different, power cord and set up a return of this one. Unfortunately, I had already thrown away the box and the return instructions made quite clear that EVERYTHING from the purchase has to be returned or you might not get a refund. Since I only had the cord and charger block, I figured why even bother and threw them out. $13 may not be A LOT but it's still my $13 and a product should last longer than this. Bought this because we live where it is cold in the winter time. The Ring camera I have was battery, but it also has the option to plug it in, which I didn't know when I bought it. But so glad it does. The battery was only lasting about 2 days per charge, because of the cold. Now we don't have to worry about it. Works great, and I have the battery for when the power goes out, if it does. ... show more
