The media could not be loaded. There are a lot of options when it comes to beginner guitar sets, although not quite as many in kids sizes. And this is absolutely a kids size. As a player with small (very small) hands, a 3/4 guitar is my go to, but this feels smaller. It's certainly due to the narrow neck, which does throw my chords off a bit. So if you're an adult with small hands, this isn't for you. But then it's not geared towards small handed adults. As a kids guitar (say 11 years or younger) it does a very fine job. After tuning up it sounded fine, although the amp is... well definitely a beginners amp. Don't look at this as a setup your kid can keep and grow with... It's strictly a first stage, see if they like it, sort of guitar. But for under $160 that's fine. The neck is smooth and straight, the frets seemed a bit high, but a beginner won't notice, and the sound was plenty good enough for a newcomer to guitar. It's probably worth $30 to take it to your local guitar shop and have a set-up done (you should with every guitar unless you can do it yourself), which would probably get rid of the minor fret buzz I got from the D and B strings. But again, that's often the case for a guitar fresh from the box. The accoutrements are also nice... Not high end but useful for the beginner. So just know what you're paying for and you'll be pleased with this set. Will your kid use this guitar to be the next Eddie (or Edweena) Van Halen. No.... But will it allow them to discover the guitar and have some fun without needing to buy other, much more pricey instruments and gear until they're ready? Yes. That's what it's for, and it manages that very well

This guitar and extras arrived very well packaged in a box in a box, Amazon style. The guitar itself is a nice looking, mustang style guitar with two single coil pickups. It weighs 5.1 pounds. The fit and finish, in usual Aklot style, is very good. The headstock is attractive, although the string trees are the less desirable batwing style, which is unlike the usual Aklot guitarThe nut feels like plastic and the width is 1.485 inches. And that is less than the claimed 1.5 inches, which is a problem and I'll get to that later. The neck feels smooth and it's a slightly chunkier than expected C shape, which is fine. Measured scale length is 22.75 when intonated on the high E. The bridge is fine as are the pickups and electronics. Nobody will be gigging this guitar, so the thin sounding single coils will be fine for a child learning and practicing. The kit that comes with the guitar is all useful. I always recommend aquiring a rechargeable tuner, but the included one will do for a while. The cable and strap are good. There is a usable capo a container of picks, a cleaning cloth and an extra set of strings. The gig bag is more than adequate for a budget guitar with a small amount of padding. And the practice amp is USB rechargeable and perfectly fine for learning and practicing. All in all, this would be a nice package for a child but for one thing: The neck on this guitar is much too narrow even for a child. I gave it to my seven year old granddaugher who dabbles in guitar. She currentily has a Rogue Rocketeer 7/8 size guitar, a Mitchell Mini Strat and a Lyx Pro short scale tele. She was having a hard time playing the Aklot, so I measured the nut widths on the other guitars and they're all at least 1.65 inches wide. So, I'm not sure who is the target audience for this guitar, but it's too narrow for my seven year old and she's not a large seven year old. The complete package with the guitar is good. The guitar itself is good enough quality. But the neck width and nut width is a problem. So, 5 stars for quality. And 1 star for playability gives 3 stars. I currently own five Aklot adult sized guitars, and I really like them. The quality has been excellent for the price of all of them. I also have their piano and full drum kit. I've been quite pleased with all of them. So, I would urge Aklot to widen the neck a bit on this guitar, and then the package would be great. I would even urge them to make a standard sized Mustang style guitar at a 24 inch scale length and 42mm nut width. But for now, I cannot recommend this guitar. Addendum 12-4-2025: My granddaughter has been playing this guitar, and she's more able to play it. She prefers the necks on her other guitars, so this guitar would be best for those children with extremely small hands.

I know, I know... I am always on here raving about Aklot! But nothing has changed with this review of them and their products. They sure do what they do and they do it the best! Aklot has came a long way and they have left their mark in the game. All of the instruments they make (I own quite a bit of them too), they make with the best materials. They take great care and great pride in making sure that every single detail, big and small, is done right. This guitar is no exception. The sound is full and great! Easy to tune, and the accessories are a great touch for any beginner. I highly recommend this company for ALL of your instrument needs.
