  • Authentic Audio
Size: K72
Not my 1st AKG headphones. I appreciate this particular model for its low fatigue and great audio experience I get when using it. For me it does a great job of isolating outside noise to lock in the great sound it produces.

  • Used for silent bass guitar practice
Size: K92
For my purposes, they are great. I just use them to plug into my bass amp so I can practice quietly, and the sound is clear and crisp at low frequencies. I also listen to music with them sometimes, but obviously the flat frequency response can make your music a little less enjoyable than headphones that are designed for listening for fun. They are comfy but a little on the delicate side. You could probably mix music with these, but for not much more it's probably worth investing in a more premium version. ... show more

  • These cans are good for the price but...
Size: K72
For the price they're a decent set of headphones. Comfortable, but sound-wise there is a definite emphasis in the 200Hz to 400Hz range and a little damping of highs, which leads to a small carpeted-wall room sound overall. Detail is not there in the higher frequencies and the whole sound is somewhat muted and thumps in the lower mid and bass areas. I love AKG, and swear by my K701s, but the "Pro Audio" in the title of the K72 is a misnomer if you ask me. But then, there is about $150 difference in price between them, so this proves the old adage, you get what you pay for. I'd say good for general listening and hearing yourself talk if you're doing a podcast or something, but I wouldn't suggest making critical EQ decisions based on what these are telling your ears. To be thorough I revisited this review, and as I sit here listening to a few extremes of music taste and quality as I write this update, I'm still hearing definite emphasis in the bass area and muted highs. My music samples of choice were Steely Dan, Aja, some Hall & Oats selections, Nine Inch Nails, White Zombie. It may sound strange but it's telling. To be honest, Nine Inch Nails and White Zombie sound pretty good with these headphones but the bass response is still very pronounced, and once things are underway the muted quality takes over. The highly compressed quality of the more modern music helps, but the muffled effect is still evident. As some other reviewers mentioned, good for general listening. Good quality for the price I'd say. ... show more

  • Amazing bang for the buck
Size: K92
I own a recording studio and these are used for tracking. Pro's: Good sound quality, good sound isolation, very affordable, long cable and they're very light and comfortable for long tracking sessions. Cons: there are more full spectrum headphones on the market (but I haven't found any at this price). ... show more

  • Great value headphones for tracking and practice
Size: K72
This is my second set of this exact model of headphone from AKG. The first set lasted about 10 years and then the vinyl ear pads started flaking. They, IMHO, are a great bang for the buck. They are not $200 headphones to mix your next record on, but they are great for tracking & monitoring guitar, bass, keys, vocals etc at reasonable sound levels. They offer convincing bass that isn't too boomy and produce highs that are not fizzy. The ear cups fit over the ears nicely (and I have rather large ears) and provide noise cancellation but are comfortable without being fatiguing. I own several different models of AKG headphones from different price points, but these are inexpensive and well built to take the abuse of working in a bedroom studio tracking song ideas to a computer or a stand alone digital multi track recorder. ... show more

  • Not what I was looking for
Size: K92
The audio wasn't really to my liking. It does a good job of isolating instruments but due to that a lot of songs wouldn't feel complete. I think others may like it as it felt like I was in a room during a live session, but personally, I didn't like having to switch between these and another pair to watch youtube or listen to music regularly. Besides that, they were very uncomfortable and when recording music there was still a good amount of audio bleeding out. I have a pair of open-back headphones that were honestly quieter than these. The fact the cable isn't removable/interchangeable was also a big downside. If you play an instrument these are pretty great though. I play bass and found it to be perfect when trying to practice without disturbing others, but besides that, these weren't great for me. ... show more
