  • Great action camera - why pay for Go Pro
I've had this camera for about a year and I've found that I can do whatever I like and with great results. The product comes with plenty of accessories and the only challenge is how to assemble and use every one. I also bought a few extra accessories that did not come with the unit and now I feel I have a complete set. The video and photos are top notch, although I will admit that good lighting is important. What is amazing is the price of all this equipment. You would think you are getting some crippled, stripped down product but that should be the least of your worries. If you don't believe me, check out the reviews on YouTube. And while you are there, you will also be able to view tutorial vides that will get you up and shooting immediately. ... show more

  • More worth the money
**Disclosure: I received this product at a reduced rate/pro gratis for my review. Believe it or not, that has no bearing on this review. If I like it, I say so, if it sucks I say so.** TL;DR- It’s pretty much dead center between a GoPro Hero5 and a GoPro Hero6 for a third less. Initial thoughts: I’ve had a few Akaso cameras in the past and as usual, they always deliver the peripherals. This package comes with a pile of plastic GoPro style accessories that will allow you to mount to near any surface or thing you’d want to. Helmet J mounts, flat mounts, and a tripod mount. Also included are a couple of spare 3M style adhesive pads to sticky mount in a more permanent way. The waterproof housing fits the camera snugly and the buttons are stiff, but plenty long enough to actuate the actual buttons on the camera. My only concern is the foam pads that make the camera snug in the case. I’m fairly certain that these would fail eventually, but easy enough to replace with some foam weather stripping should the need arise. The skeleton case is a bit of a surprise. It is a little difficult to get on, but once it snaps into place, the camera is held solid. Not a wiggle or rattle. Very impressed and a major upgrade from the skeleton case on the EK7000/EK5000. Use: This is probably one of the best GoPro knockoffs I’ve had the opportunity to get my hands on. That being said, it isn’t perfect by any means. This camera records in 4k, 2.7k, 1080p, and 720p, however there are very few reasons to lock into anything less than 4k. There is a marked quality drop when going from 4k to 1080p that really doesn’t make any sense. See photos for a better idea. On a screen that is 1920x1080, native resolution should be clear, crisp, and smooth. That was not my experience. The EIS was quite a bit better in 1080p30 than it was in 4k, but again, the quality of the footage was not worth the additional EIS. Now, I am not saying that the EIS is horrible in 4k, it’s still what I’ve seen to be the best in a camera under the GoPro5/6 price points. There’s a little wiggle in the edges when you’re on something as rough as a lawnmower, but my GoPro 5 is as bad, if not slightly worse. Getting back to image quality, all comparisons and points I’m going to use are being referred to 4k only. The image quality is a bit washed out in normal filter settings, similar to log in a GoPro. Vivid does a lot of good when you don’t mind some oversaturation in the greens and blues. It’s easy to fix in post, so I’m not going to hold this against the Brave6+. As far as the sharpness goes, it’s pretty good. Not $200/300 GoPro levels by any means, but you can count the petals in a rose or make easy distinction of the leaves on a tree. I certainly find it more than acceptable for motovlogging or even as far as normal camera use for a YouTube channel. Now, lets talk about the touchscreen. It’s perfectly responsive, gets you from point A to B without unnecessary poking and prodding. Do note that it is smaller than your phones screen, so fat fingering is absolutely a concern. The skeleton case does interfere sometimes when you’re trying to hit the buttons on the edge and it doesn’t, of course, work when you’re in the waterproof housing. It’s bright and colored well enough that you know exactly what’s highlighted when you need to use the buttons to navigate. All in all, I’m giving this a 4/5 because it is more than worth the $120 price tag, even with the small issues that arise from the slightly lower image quality. Is it worth upping your budget for a GoPro? Well, that’s entirely up to you. Me? I’ll likely be picking up another one of these just in case I stick it somewhere I probably ought not and it gets destroyed. It does exactly what 90% of people who want/need an action camera need at a lower price point with great production quality. ... show more

  • I love this little camera
It’s perfect for vacation and trips. I haven’t used it much yet but the instructions were easy enough to understand. It seems like an easy process transferring the pics from the camera to your phone, social media or computer. I’m heading to Puerto Rico and will take it with me on all my adventures.

  • Great value for the money.
We are going to Costa Rica and want to capture the experience. After much research we decided on the Akaso BRAVE 6 PLUS. Great camera and best value for the money we could find.

  • Akaso Brave 6 Plus
I purchased this camera for my 9-year-old son for Christmas so he could make decent quality videos of himself doing scooter tricks. I was excited to purchase the new upcoming Brave 7 (not Brave 7 LE), which was originally supposed to be released before Christmas 2020, but it never came out. While it was a little disappointing since it seems the Brave 7 will incorporate the best features of all Akaso cameras into an only-slightly-more expensive package, in the end, I went with the Brave 6 Plus, which was offered at a discount at the time. Even though the Brave 7 LE has dual-screens, a more durable water proof housing, and several other things missing from the Brave 6 Plus, I went with this camera because many online reviews on YouTube suggested that its Image Stabilization was superior to the Brave 7 LE, and for scootering it was going to be used on a helmet or chest mount much of the time. My son has enjoyed the camera so far and I think the price is fair for what it is. If you're like me and are purchasing an action camera for your kid and don't want to spend the money for a GoPro, this is a good buy, as it offers many of the same features and benefits. It is not without some design missteps, however: flimsy battery door, no threading on bottom of camera to mount it (a separate plastic mount with threading is required), not particularly durable plastic housing, and other frustrating little gripes. But, it mostly makes up for these things with what it does offer, along with the price. It comes with an extra battery and many accessories as well (although no instructions for how to use them). One of the major pros is that the Akaso app integration works over WiFi pretty well and it essentially allows my son to use the camera with his iPad and make and edit little videos without me having to take out the MicroSD or import the videos into the computer. (Note: MicroSD has to be purchased separately). The app integration, along with the remote and voice commands features are pretty cool at this price point. Below is my son's review of the camera (his words): This camera has a very wide view and the resolution is amazing. Image stabilization is very smooth and the touchscreen responds very quickly. I really like the slow-motion feature because it is not choppy. It's so pleasant to watch, so smooth. There is this annoying thing whenever I put the waterproof case on the camera; the waterproof case clicks on the power button and it turns off. Even though I don’t need to use the waterproof case for what I do, I just think the camera is safer that way. So, I think the camera itself should be more durable. Otherwise, this camera is a great starter cam. The comment he made about the waterproof case is true. At least on our camera, the force of snapping the waterproof case closed causes the power button to be pushed down just enough that it turns the camera off. While you can turn the camera back on once it is in the water proof case, you cannot use the touch screen once it is in there, so it's a bit of a problem. All in all, we have been pretty satisfied with this camera (it's certainly more than enough camera for my son), but I do wish we would have been able to purchase the Brave 7 when I was in the market for a budget-friendly action camera. ... show more
