A good addition to a car kit, but get good batteries and check them regularly. After long term storage in a car the batteries will likely be dead and possibly leaking. Getting these open to change the batteries during an emergency after long storage in a car could be inconvenient at best. The rubber gets sticky so the lids don't want to easily come open. I love these little desks. The lights are bright and they are definitely worth the purchase as far as safety goes when placed on the road. My concern is that these require three AAA batteries. Well that may not be a bad thing, I would question these items being stored in your emergency card kit when there are extreme temperatures either hot or cold affecting the batteries performance and or meltdown. I would suggest that if you are not going on a road trip that you don't leave these discs in your emergency kit. ... show more

I have not yet used them at night during an emergency but I expect to like them, which is why I've rated them so highly. Time will tell. There is one button that selects from a variety of flashing patterns, as well as a 3 white LEDs that can be used as a flashlight. I chose this product becauses it uses 3 standard AAA batteries rather than rechargable ones. If I find these to be discharged, I can change the batteries in all of them rather quickly. ... show more
