Purchased for 10 year old and used the size chart given by the vendor. I think most sizing problems come if you have a bit of a tummy. I still purchased one size larger so he'll have some room. I'm glad I did because the size up fit him perfectly. It fit in the chest, but he has a little tummy and it was a bit snug. He probably will not be able to wear it next year.
