  • Very easy to ride and handles great.
This is probably one of the favorite boards I have rode. It's very easy to stay in the wake and ride with no rope. I ride it behind our Yamaha 212x with only standard fat sacks, which these boats are not know for a huge wake. I can ride with no rope for as long as I want so if you have a larger wake this board would really perform. Awesome board. ... show more

  • Great wakesurf board
This is a FANTASTIC wakesurf board. Me and my girlfriend both ride it and absolutely love it. My buddy that’s 215lbs rides it with no problem. This board has so much push but can still do 360’s and other tricks with ease. Beats paying $800 for a name brand skim style board. If you’re on the fence on buying this like I was, I’d strongly recommend getting one. ... show more

  • This thing is super light!
1st thing I noticed when the box came was how light it was. When I picked it up I almost threw it in the air because I assumed it was heavier. The grip on the board is like a foam pad with cuts in it. It’s not like sandpaper which would hurt your feet especially when wet. Long story short I like it and like everything I done a lot of research before buying this. ... show more

  • Our best favorite board out of four!
The media could not be loaded. Wow, this Airhead Lake Effect Wakesurf board is stunningly good. It's our fourth board on the boat but it's SO GOOD a couple of other boards are about to get retired. I'll finish with some comparisons to other boards but let me start with what's great about the Lake Effect. One word: Fast. Three Words: Fast, fast, fast (okay, that's from our 18yo son who LOVES this board.) Seriously, it is fast. You'll see that from the video and how we're able to catch the wake and move with ease despite probably having just about the smallest surf boat and wake possible. But not just fast, it's incredibly stable. I am NOT an agile or balanced rider and this was my best first ride ever. Fast, stable, and also maneuverable and forgiving. The small steering fins are enough for control while still having speed and maneuverability. And by forgiving, we got further back in our small wake than most of our other boards let us and still got back into power easily. I think the speed and forgiveness come from the squished fishtail back. Although Airhead calls this skim style, because of that squish, I'd probably call it a hybrid. It's also light. At only 6.5 pounds, it's a half pound lighter than the smaller true-skim Butterbar we have even though it's 4 inches longer than the Butterbar. AND it's easily got way more float than the Butterbar. Last added minor nice touch - the fins attach and secure with some angled predrilled hex screws and were MUCH easier to install that the traditional long bolts for fins. You'll have a much easier time adding and deleting fins on the water to suit multiple riders - as long as you remember the included allen wrench or one of your own. Bottom line: WE LOVE this board and it will probably be not only our favorite but also the one we start inexperienced friends especially small teenagers on. And at this incredible price, it's half what comparable boards cost. OK, now some brief comparisons and a word on our tow setup. First board we bought - Hyperlite Landlock. This is a LONG (68"?) stable board that almost every boat pro and all the online reviews will recommend as a great first board. And it is. Especially if you have big adult friends, Hyperlite Landlock is good. But, for smaller adults and teens, the huge landlock can be more board than they can control. The much shorter Airhead Lake Effect has the speed and control to be a good teaching board for friends. Second board - our comparison to the Airhead Lake Effect in the video - a Slingshot Butterbar 52" skim. In the photos at the beginning you'll see the difference in length and tail shape. Oddly, the butterbar also has slightly larger fins which seem to make it a little slow for a skim. For a bigger boat and wake or a really advanced rider, the Butterbar is probably awesome but for us, the Airhead Lake Effect is also the winner here. New this year we added a Liquid Force Rocket. At 5 foot even (60") it's a good forgiving midsize board. Oddly it has enormous fins. We may try finding some normal size fins for it to see if they improve the ride, otherwise it's probably our least favorite of the four right now. So, recapping, Airhead Lake Effect beats Hyperlite Landlock, Slingshot Butterbar, and Liquid Force Rocket. I really did NOT expect that from a company best-known for making inflatable tow tubes. Boat setup: If you can surf a smaller boat and wake than us, more power to you. If you have a huge v-drive with the biggest boat on the lake, you'll probably love the Airhead Lake Effect (and every board) even more. We're towing with an '02 Mastercraft x9 which is their converted 209 ski boat with added waketower and factory fat-sacks in the rear (under seat) and center locker. We've added a 1000 pound sumo sack and another 150 pounds of lead. We're usually surfing with a small crew, not a ton of adults. The wake you see in the video is about as good as it gets. And the lake is actually a shallow man-made reservoir, usually no more than 12-15 feet of depth, so that diminishes the wake quality too. Our wake shaper is a WakeMate from Shape the Wake. Also an awesome product. So, shallow lake, little boat, little wake and this Airhead Lake Effect is still a WINNER. Buy it. You'll thank yourself, and thank me! ... show more

  • Whoa
This Airhead Lake Effect Wakesurf Board is a great bit of fun, but of course has a bit of a learning curve. I've been wakeboarding a few times, but I never was much good at it. This past weekend when I took this bad boy out for it's maiden ride on the lake with my friends boat, and all of a sudden I was actually doing pretty freaking good. The amount of fun I had was only surpassed by the amount of soreness I had the next day, but even while sore I was able to get back up and shred on this thing again before we packed up and left. This is a confidence inspiring wakesurf board as it has a great balance and good amount of traction. The board seems very well made and it held up to the abuse of 4 people riding this thing and switching off. Overall, I love this thing as it feels so rewarding to be able to overcome the challenge and reap the benefits of riding. I highly recommend this board 5/5 stars. ... show more

  • Sweet board
I got this for someone who's into water sports, and I have to admit at first I thought it was a paddle board- but it turns out this is a pretty excellent board for wake surfing instead! I'm not so familiar with surfboards, but I showed it to a friend who is really into it and they told him it is an excellent board to start off with and learn on. I'm impressed with the quality and detail, definitely worth checking out if you want a board. ... show more

  • Awesome board!
This is a great board for use on lakes. I haven’t used this on the ocean. We have it for use in Lake Cumberland, KY. It’s lightweight and very easy to transport. It’s sturdy and well made. It works great for skimming. We all love it!!!
