  • Comfortable and exactly what I was expecting
This mattress was everything I hoped. I've been floor sleeping for awhile now. My version of it was several layers of cardboard on top of several layers of blankets and comforters. I mostly liked it, but it was a little harsh on my low back. When this mattress came I laid down and could immediately feel my low back and neck begin to relax. Somehow I felt like the mattress was able to maintain the firmness of the floor without the harshness, if that makes sense. I guess if you're heavier than me (I'm pretty skinny) this might not be thick enough for you. When I lay flat I can't feel the floor at all, but when I sit up then I can, but still not in an uncomfortable way. It feels like it's made of cotton and a high quality, supportive memory foam. I didn't look too closely, but the stitching seemed secure. I noticed that although there is quilting on both sides, it doesn't go all the way through, so you can pull the sides away from each other, but I didn't notice anything that looks like it would come loose or lose its shape. It did come with a slight sweet scent, not like the chemically scents you'd expect from a product like this. Most people probably wouldn't even notice it. I don't know what it means, so do with that information what you will. It came a little lumpy. It didn't lay quite flat out of the box. But after letting it expand for a day the lumps seem to have disappeared already. It was also more lightweight than I was expecting. Not sure what I was expecting, but if it's important to you, it's really easy to carry around. The dimensions were mostly accurate except it was only 78-78.5 inches long. I used a twin sheet with 360 elastic. Not a perfect solution, but it seems like it's working pretty well for my purposes. It does fold into thirds and it makes a pretty comfortable little seat that way. Overall I highly recommend if you want a basic b**** approach to sleeping on the floor. ... show more

  • Comfortable, convenient, and feels well made
Lately, I have been sleeping on the floor due to new circumstances in my household. This tatami mat was a good solution for my situation. The mattress arrived nice and compact. When unraveled, it has decent thickness and is medium/firm which matches my preference for comfort. It feels well made with good padding and is easy to use. It has a little bit of weight to it but this mostly reflects that it's a quality product. When not in use it rolls up conveniently making it easy to store. Overall, this mattress has improved my sleep quality. ... show more

  • Super comfortable even though it’s only 2.5” thick
Color: Dark Grey Size: Queen (80"L x 60"W x 2.5"Th)
Extremely comfortable—especially for only being 2.5” thick. I’ve recently started floor sleeping, and this is exactly what I was looking for. Perfect for my small studio apartment, where I can convert this into a floor couch easily against a wall. It seems very well made. It does have a slight chemical odor at first but it dissipated within a couple days. It’s not terrible, but if you’re sensitive you might want to let it air out before you sleep on it. I bought the queen size so I can sprawl out. Great choice! ... show more

  • Comfortable, but could be better
I purchased two of these in twin. For the price a zippered washable cover would be nice, but I had to spend $50 each for a cover separately. My one futon had a hard piece of plastic sewn inside and can not be removed unless I cut into it. Overall, it’s comfortable.

  • Great Mattress
Color: Dark Grey Size: Twin (80"L x 39"W x 2.5"Th)
I truly love this mattress. It's a great deal. I have a bit of a tricky living situation so I bought this to sleep on and have been using it for 2 months now with zero problems. No complaints!

  • Very thin
Color: Dark Grey Size: Full (80"L x 54"W x 2.5"Th)
Very thin. Did not fluff up much at all. And I like firm, but this is a little too firm. I waited 72 hours after unpacking to actually sleep on it. That said, I have been sleeping on it until I decided to buy a different Shikibuton. This will serve as a guest bed I guess

  • Total convert to Japanese sleeping floor mats. What a concept! Will never buy a “normal bed” again.
Color: Dark Grey Size: Full (80"L x 54"W x 2.5"Th)
I am a forever CONVERT to Japanese floor bed mats! Who knew they could be so comfortable? And you can take them anywhere by rolling them up. So save money on hotels/motels knowing you don’t have to worry about if they have good beds or not, or camping in a tent. Save money whenever you move apt/homes b/c you never have to buy an expensive bed setup and worry about moving it or selling/buying new because it’s cheaper to do that than move it. TOTAL CONVERT! FIRMNESS: Yes of course it has to be firm or else you’ll feel the floor. But it’s also surprisingly cushy and comfy. As a person with early lower back arthritis, I actually slept better on this than my sleep number bed. Since then I’ve also complemented this with 2 wedge pillows to help achieve as much of a zero-gravity position for my back. But I was okay with just a regular pillow and no elevated knees when i tried this the first time by borrowing my roommates while she was gone and i was in the process of moving my stuff in. THICKNESS: didn’t measure as this is far less important to me than how comfy i feel on it when i sleep and how my body feels when i wake up. Honestly nothing comes to mind that was obviously better than using this. However, for those this matters, it’s roughly 3” thick. SIZE: I purchased a full and i didn’t measure it to a T. It functions like a full would and plenty of room for one and unfolded laundry and a floor chair i use to sit up in bed to do laptop, iPad, etc. QUALITY: Since it’s a simpler setup, less complication, just works- have to say it’s good. I did buy a cover for it as i don’t think it has its own removable cover so i can wash it occasionally. I will assume buying an extra cover for this will also help keep wear and tear down on things such as seams, etc. Since there are no coils to worry about, air pockets (like Sleep number), or much compression/expansion going on beyond the initial 24 hrs from vacuum pack for delivery, the “fewer moving parts” theory would say this should last a long time. ... show more
