  • Ride Control = Safety
Color: Nylon Air Line Size: Up to 5,000 lbs Style: Standard Air Spring Pattern Name: LoadLifter
I've used Airlift 5000 air bag suspension kits before when i owned a heavy Lance slide in truck camper on a Chevy K3500 dually. I was very pleased with the ride stability they provided. I sold that truck/camper years ago. Recently i decided to buy a Capri slide in truck camper for use with my 2017 Chevy K2500, where weight and ride stability are more of a concern. I installed these Airlift 5000 air bags on my 3/4 ton several days before picking up my new Capri camper. The installation can be done by an RV dealer, but if you have the tools and safety jacks to support your vehicle, you can DIY. Install requires only basic tools (SAE and 13 and 14mm metric sockets - deep and standard, a 13 and 14mm open end wrenches, and a torque wrench). But SAFETY is most important.....be sure to use jack stands (i use a primary and a back up under my vehicle) and a good hydraulic lift jack. You don't need to lift the rear of your vehicle until the tires are off the ground, but only enough to give you more room between the axle and the jounce bumper housing. I followed the instructions provided by Airlift and checked off each step as I completed it. Airlift instructions did'nt mention a trick that i used to make easier to place the assembled air bags bags into position between the axle and frame. (See the pic) I compressed the air bag assembly and used a strand of bailing wire on each side to keep it compressed until i had it in position. Then, I cut the bailing wire and removed it easily. The air bags expanded into place on the frame above the axle. So much easier doing that than trying to force the expanded bag assembly into position! After that the remainder of the install was smooth, except for attaching the emergency brake line clip per the instructions......there was not enough clearance between the fuel tank and the frame to install the Airlift provided brake line clip. I had to secure it using a different method. After install, i followed the checklist instructions. Clearance, leak checks, check ride, and torque check passed. It took me about 6 hours to install, but I'm old, slow, deliberate and SAFE! Used the truck on an 800 mile trip to pick up my new camper. Had to endure high winds with 60mph gusts both from the headwind and from the side. The airbags were inflated to 35psi. The ride was level, stable, and i started to feel very safe and secure with the way the airbags improved the ride, even with the buffeting from the wind. These bags DO NOT increase your cargo weight rating. They improve ride control. If you have or are considering a slide in camper, I highly recommend these Airlift suspension kits. Same if you have a heavy tongue weight trailer that lifts your trucks front end. The Airlifts with give you a level and stable ride. ... show more

  • Best $300 I could've spent to fix this issue
Color: Nylon Air Line Size: Up to 5,000 lbs Style: Standard Air Spring Pattern Name: LoadLifter
Purchased for my 2011 Silverado 2500HD. Bought a 5th wheel with ~1900# pin weight that was dropping the bed of my truck 3 inches. Researched all the options, new springs, helper springs, air bags, etc. This was absolutely the best option and well worth the money spent. With 28# of air in the bags the bed dropped 3/4". With 32# of air a 1/2" (that's 1/3 of the max air pressure capacity). I imagine at 35# it won't move at all. Best part, blow the air and back to normal ride. Super easy installation. Purchased the T fitting to evenly distribute air to both bags at once. Thought about purchasing the 7500XL, factory rep told me to save my money as it would be overkill. These 5000s are pure gold. ... show more

  • Great product but may not be compatible with all hitches
Color: Nylon Air Line Size: Up to 5,000 lbs Style: Standard Air Spring Pattern Name: LoadLifter
I started installing these and quickly realized that I was going to have to modify by BW Flip Ball hitch. The items shown in the picture are of a stabilizer that keep the rest of the hitch from twisting. This part of the hitch is about 1 inch above the top of the frame. We had to cut a notch approximately 1 inch deep and 3/4 inch wide to allow the U-bolt for the airbag to fit in the proper position. In grand scheme of things it wasn't terrible because we had a plasma cutter readily available. It was more of a nuisance having to take this part off of both sides and then reinstall them. I did immediately notice the difference in towing my fifth wheel. I also think my ride without the camper on has gotten better when I reduce the pressure down to 6 - 9 pounds. Great product! ... show more

  • Great for the price and easy to install.
Color: Nylon Air Line Size: Up to 5,000 lbs Style: Standard Air Spring Pattern Name: LoadLifter
Have had these installed for about 2 weeks but have not towed yet and will update once I do. Installation is pretty simple and is much easier when you have someone else to help. Used a Tee to running the hoses together vs having to fill the bags individually. Only complaint is that in the instructions it states to install the 90deg compression hose fitting "hand tight plus a half turn, do not over tighten." I did mine hand tight plus two turns and they leaked terribly. Went back and tightened them as much as I could with an open end wrench and they haven't leaked since. Highly recommend for price, quality, and easy installation. Will add to this review once I tow in a few weeks. ... show more

  • Great ride
Color: Nylon Air Line Size: Up to 5,000 lbs Style: Standard Air Spring Pattern Name: LoadLifter
I previously ised the Firestone bags on a different truck and really liked them. I sold that truck and needed to add air bags to my new truck. I started pricing them and these bags had very good reviews and the price was much cheaper than the Firestone bags. My first tow with them I wasnt very happy with the ride. Come to find out the bags were deflating. Checked for leaks and found where the air tubing was leaking at one of the push in fittings due to the cut not being square. I trimmed the tubing and put it back together and they have worked great since then. (The cut on the tubing could have been my fault but Im pretty certain that wasnt a cut I made, but it could have been). Other than that cut the bags have worked great and really help the ride when I am towing. My 5th wheel is a 2002 32' trailer than weighs approx 12k. With about 44 psi in the bags the truck rides great. My truck is a 2011 GMC 2500 Denali HD Duramax 4x4. ... show more

  • Cheap fittings cause unnecessary frustration
Color: Nylon Air Line Size: Up to 5,000 lbs Style: Standard Air Spring Pattern Name: LoadLifter
This air bag kit was fairly easy to install, I just didn't like having to doing it twice. Now, let me explain. I installed the air bags in less than two hours, then I moved onto the air compressor (wireless airlift). Part of my issue is with the compressor's cheap hardware as well. At any rate, one of the plastic 90 degree elbows that attach to the bag itself was defective and wouldn't lock the air line in place. You can't simply remove the elbow, because it is blocked by the mounting bracket, so the bag had to be removed. In an effort to make it work, because the normal person doesn't have 1/4 inch elbows laying around, it broke completely. The race was on at 7:30 on a Saturday night to try an find a suitable replacement. I ended up finding a 1/4 in brass compression fit elbow at Lowes. I bought two, just in case the other one had issues, which it did. I live in Alaska, and the 1/4 air line is very difficult to work with when it's cold. That is how the second one broke. I am glad it did, because the brass compression fittings are solid, and if this hardware broke at 40 degrees, imagine what it would do in the winter when it gets to -20 degrees. In closing, I would gladly pay a few bucks more for this system if you (Air Lift) would include better quality fittings with the kit. This detracted from an otherwise nicely built system, and added 4 extra hours to my install, and a lot of frustration that I didn't need. ... show more
