I love the small size and attractiveness of this case. It has some heft still to it so it feels sturdy, with a handle that looks like it was built to last. The two latches take some getting used to - it's not super easy to open and close them at the same time with your two hands. Violin fits very snug, so I have to insert mine flat directly from above to fit in place rather than just putting one end in first. I've been able to place my shoulder rest upside down under the neck of the violin by spinning the feet a little and will put in some bubble wrap to protect the violin from it. The velcro that might have been designed to hold the shoulder rest is useless. Definitely need to air out this case as it stinks at first. You really can only fit one bow. The second bow would crush into your violin when closing it, so I just went ahead and easily removed the second bow holder with a phillips screwdriver since it was in the way anyway and made it difficult to use the first bow holder. I'm concerned that my bow might get scraped over time from the bow holding mechanism but only time will tell. I like that it comes with a cloth cover for the violin and that the accessories compartment does not have any zippers that could break. I'm happy so far! We'll see how well it lasts. ... show more

This case is amazing as far as style and functionality goes. It has a place for a shoulder rest, although it has to be a foldable shoulder rest. My Everest shoulder rest would not fit. It has a nice roomy pocket in the inside for all your essentials, and the violin fits snug in the case. The bows are also in there nice and tight and there is no rattling. I got the purple color but in person it’s a bit more blue (which is ok for me). The only downside is that it cannot store music and the backspace straps latch on the back side kind of digs into your back. Otherwise it is very nice. I bought this to take camping and provide more protection than my foam case. I was able to fit my 7/8 size fiddle, collapsible shoulder rest, and two bows. Rosin, a tuner, a mute and a cloth went into the accessory compartment. I'd like to see heavier duty hinges and clasps, but they seem adequate for now. ... show more

    • Interior comes completely unglued after about 4 years

I've had two of these for 4 years. Great design, love it. The problem is that the entire interior, including the bow holders and the shoulder rest holder, and all the fabric, is held together with hot glue, attached to the plastic of the case. After 4 years, everything just suddenly let loose, in both cases, so the bows were flopping around, as was the shoulder rest, and all of the fabric started falling off the walls of the interior. I solved this by getting a huge quantity of epoxy, pulling everything out, and epoxying everything back together, with clamps while the epoxy cured. Hopefully the epoxy will last a lot longer than the old hot glue. I still like the case, just FYI if you expect to still be using it a few years from now, you'll need to have great gluing skills. ... show more

    • Functional, compact case
This has worked for a solid semester of transporting my violin across campus every day. Nice and weatherproof, although I would recommend purchase of a silk violin bag for an extra layer of protection against temp/humidity changes if that's a concern. Some of the storage is compromised for the sake of a sleek, small case, but I have still found room for multiple rosin cakes, a cleaning cloth, a few mutes, and an extra set of strings. This case can comfortably store two bows, but it is a snug fit. They will reach to the ends of the case. There IS room for a shoulder rest, if you have one that's not bulky (ideally a compact one). It will hang from the top of the case when opened. I turn the legs in on my shoulder rest, and it fits comfortably. If you use the provided blanket to cover your instrument, your shoulder rest won't touch it. The shoulder straps are not super comfortable but they are functional as either backpack-style straps or a single over-the-shoulder strap. There are only 2 hinges that lock down, but they close the case tightly and are plenty strong. There have been a couple times when I am in a hurry and miss closing one of them, but just one is strong enough to keep the case secure (phew!).
