  • Great for lab
I use this for a high school science lab. It works great.

  • Play Around Till You Figure it Out.
Nice anemometer for the money. Does what I need for HVAC work. Had to read the manual, play around with it for awhile, read the manual again, and play around with it some more just to figure it out. Minus 1 star for the manual. ANYONE KNOW WHAT THE LITTLE CLOCK ICON DOES??? Nothing in the manual except to say it's a timing symbol. ... show more

  • Higher wind speed reading
This anemometer is a great for higher wind speeds over 100 mph.

  • Great tool for stand up paddleboarders
Got this to judge wind speeds and directions before going out on the board to make sure I wouldn't put myself in a bad situation. When I first got it, it seemed like the fan blade wasn't working, but I finally noticed there was a small metal piece interfering with the rotation. As soon as I got the debris out of the way, it began working perfectly, and I haven't had an issue since. If there's a reason you need to know the wind speed, this has worked great in that capacity for me. ... show more

  • Easy to use, works as described
Use this to check HVAC performance at the returns and outlets. Remote head is useful; units are a bit hard to read on the display, but will get used to it after using awhile.

  • Stingy at low speeds
The Anemometer I received had an unbalanced fan making it struggle to register anything below .5mps. Any measurement below 5mph will show low. For instance, 3mph wind will shownat 2.x miles per hour. It begins to register within 10% at 5mps. Temperature and humidity measured within 1% with the one I received. I have no idea if yours will be as accurate. I like the wand style measuring stick as it does make it handy for measuring airflow in tight places such as ducts, vents, etc. My issue with it is that it needs a push to measure anything below .5mps. The listing did not mention minimum measurable airflow speed so there is no way for me to tell you if the specs are tight. Another reviewer mentioned it takes two hands to operate this- yup, sure does, unless you have the base near you on a table- and then it will need to be secured as the coiled cable will pull it toward the wand if stretched at all. That is a pro and con- a wash for me. It's useful for measuring duct airflow (if pushing a lot of air), or outside on a boat measuring knots. Holding the wand up and spining it 360 to detect what direction the wind is strongest while you stand fixed in one direction is where it shines. I would have given it 4 stars had it not been for the (I'm assuming is a) defective unbalanced fan. One star removed for sending defective product, another removed for inaccurate (low.reading from actual) and sluggish measurement of airflow at low airflow speeds. If you need something for your sailboat, or for measuring airflow on strong duct systems, then this can work. If you are looking for something sensitive at very slow speeds as in measuring laminar airflow, look elsewhere. ... show more

  • Works perfectly to quantify my home ac airflow distribution
I've been dissatisfied with the airflow distribution of my home's ac system. I'll use this anemometer to get a better idea of the airflow coming out of each vent, and hopefully make some adjustments to the ac ducts. I wasn't sure what to think about the handheld sensor, but now after using it - I like it, in many areas of my home it has saved me from climbing up and down a ladder. For my situation this works better (especially the extension) than an "all in one" unit would. One of the reasons I chose this model was because it did Not use a 9v battery, but rather AA. And I'm pleasantly surprised that it also works with the lower voltage Nimh AAs (though even with a fully charged nimh batteries the display does show a "low battery" indication). I always have extra AA batteries ready to go, so this works perfectly for me. Thankfully I won't need to worry about leaky alkaline batteries ruining this device. I have no way to verify the accuracy of this device. Fortunately for my use, the absolute accuracy is not that important. The device does seem reasonably well made, and the impeller spins very freely with just the slightest amount of air over it. The only issue seems to be that the impeller is not balanced, as one blade always wants to swing to the bottom when it stops spinning. Overall I'm very happy with this meter, it's gotten me the data I need. Now with the cooler weather I need to go into the attic to see what changes I need to make to fix the airflow distribution. ... show more

  • Didn't work well with low air velocities
I wanted to measure the air stream coming out of the diffusors in refrigerated cases to determine if there was blockage in the case or fans weren't working well. The propeller didn't rotate and I had to give it a flick of the finger to get it to start rotating. Annoying. Also didn't like the length of time it took to get an accurate temperature reading. I gave up on that right away. I returned the anemometer and am looking for another that works well with low air speeds. It did work well on HVAC outlets, but here the air speed is higher. ... show more
