  • USA MetroPCS Compatable in 2024. A millenial's review.
This phone is compatible with MetroPCS, however they will not let me continue my grandfathered in old phone plan. They want me to pick another (more expensive) "Flex" plan. I believe this is the case for any phone i switch to, not just because this is a special "dumb" phone. As for the phone itself? Awesome. If you are looking for a phone straight out of 2005 that you can use on today's networks, this one is it. It doesn't lag. It not some Kai-os sudo-android interface running on slow hardware causing lagging and crashing. It's a true dumb phone. The software feels like a true dumb phone. But it also has a few tricks up it's sleeve: - Bluetooth - Dual Sims - Calculator - Flashlight - Micro-SD card slot - Something like 32mb of onboard storage - Plays Mp3's. They can play in the background, so you can have music going while texting someone. Yes, this WORKS WITH BLUETOOTH headphones or your car, and yes, it actually sounds good. Play them off the tiny internal memory or a Micro-SD card. You can also plug the USB cable it comes with from the phone to your computer and access both the Micro-SD card slot and the phone's internal memory as separate drives. So you don't need a Micro-SD card reader on your computer. - FM Radio (doesn't work with bluetooth headphones for some reason, but you can play it through the speakerphone) - Upload your own ringtones and notification sounds. You can store them on the Micro-SD card or the internal memory. - Camera. It's garbage. Even by early 2000's standards its garbage. But it does exist, you can send and receive pictures, store them internally, upload them to your computer through USB, etc. I don't plan on using it, but if my wife wants to send me a picture of something, at least i can see it. You kind of need a camera phone to do that with. Non-camera dumb phones typically don't receive pictures of have screens capable of rendering pictures. This one will do it. It is a little big and cheap feeling, but I don't think dropping it will break it. It has kind of that "jitterbug" old people phone aesthetic more in real life than in the pictures. But as a millennial who's first cellphone was a Kyocera K7 Rave running on Virgin Mobile for 25 cents per minute, this phone has my approval as an official dumb-phone if you're trying to take your life back from phone addiction. ... show more

  • won't charge even though the temperature is warm.
My T-mobile sim card works on this phone. OK for a few weeks. Charged ok. However, when I try to charge it recently, It comes out with this message "Temperature is too low. Charging will be stopped" Then it displays two tabs: OK and Exit. Then without pressing on anything, it turns off. I live in Hawaii and temperature rarely goes below 70 F. I would not recommend buying this even though its cheap. What good is a phone that works initially and then is totally useless. ... show more

  • Sturdy, simple, but flawed. Still decent for price.
Decent phone, very sturdy as advertised. Limited functionality, but they market it as such, so if that is what you are seeking, it meets expectations. Unfortunately the phone has very limited memory and only comes with a few ringtone, but this can quickly be altered with a micro sd and a computer. The menu is a little annoying to navigate at times because it doesn't have a list mode, only a grid, and the texting is ok except for the phone not adding new words to the dictionary no matter how many times I try it, which is very annoying. Better than not having T9 at all, though. I would recommend this phone over the Easyfone A1 Pro any day. It has a strong flashlight, music player, recorder, and the camera is not as bad as I was led to believe-- you just need to increase the photo quality and get the SD card. Overall, worth 50 bucks, especially if you only do talk and text. Hopefully the developer will add an update that fixes the texting dictionary problem. Dual SIM cards is cool, but unusual in the US. ... show more

  • Decent phone
Not as rugged as the title suggest. The phone has a tendency to freeze when your in the middle of texting someone, or the message simply vanishes. On the plus side the battery life is impressive, my phone usually goes 2 or 3 days before I have to charge it. And for those that are trying to get away from intrusive apps, the internet, or doom scrolling this is a good go to phone. It only does texts and calls nothing else. Be mindful which company is capable with this phone. ... show more

  • Perfect ‘basic’ phone
Finally! A phone that I can give my kids. Just text and calls - that’s it. A radio and calculator. Works with Mint. Just swapped out the SIM card. The only trick was that I needed to adjust my iPhone settings to SMS so the phone received my texts. So if someone else is texting the ags phone with MMS it won’t come through. Easy to use and connects no problem. Screen is fine, although the texting wasn’t intuitive— like on the old Nokia phones—instead of hitting the number button for each letter you have to select each letter as you go. Hopefully we can figure out a better way, but my son will adapt fast. He’s been downgraded from an iPhone and he’s kinda bummed, but social media is too distracting. I’m very pleased with this phone bc the other dumb phones I bought had Facebook preloaded— and it was too complicated to unload, so I returned them. ... show more

  • WORKS with Ultra Mobile Carrier
UPDATE: After 6 months the phone stopped working. The mic isn't working, no one can hear me talking, whether on speaker or not or headphones, nothing works. Very frustrated. I'm so pleased that this phone works with Ultra Mobile (which uses T-mobile network). The phone is just what I wanted, no browser. The texting is t9 but it works. The hardest part is it doesn't capitalize the "I" when typing, but you can change the format for that word and then change it back. Small annoyance. The phone itself doesn't feel very durable so we'll see how it performs when the inevitable drop happens, but the case seems like it will be waterproof as it does have a really tight seal. Buttons are nice sized. Overall, for a durable phone without a browser its AWESOME, and with Ultra Mobile I pay $10/month for unlimited calls/texts. I'm very happy. ... show more
