  • A+ Warranty Service - Great solution for outdoor runners and walkers.
I have been using these headphones for about 9 months. They immediately solved a unique need: I wanted to be able to run/walk while listening to my music/podcasts/audiobooks/etc. and not let others around me hear what I'm listening to, as well as allowing me to simultaneously hear my surroundings. I had them synced to my phone and ready for use immediately (they did come with a charged battery). I also registered my warranty on day 1, and I'm glad I did, as the original unit that was sent to me broke within 3 months after purchase. The battery failed to hold a charge or power on, despite using different attempts at recovery. This happened just outside of the Amazon return window, but Aftershokz provided an easy way to file an RMA through their site, and they sent me a replacement unit totally free of charge with 2-day shipping. One note here, the original unit was the "Black" color, and the replacement was the "Ocean Blue" color; not an issue for me, but your experience may vary. The replacement unit has had flawless performance for over 6 months with regular (1-2 avg. hrs./day, sometimes 3-4+) use. Great product support by Aftershokz there. These headphones are a real game-changer, especially if you run/walk down busy roads/residential areas. You're able to hear both the outside world without any disruption, as well as clear audio as if they are in-ear headphones. The sound quality is decent, and you can turn them up pretty loud at the highest settings. The bass in certain songs can be quite comical, as they will bounce on your temples pretty wildly if you have them cranked. In very loud environments, such as near construction zones or within 10ish feet of a lawnmower, the audio does get drowned out. I mainly use these for running with music in the background, or walking the dog listening to a podcast, so the audio issues I mentioned are pretty minor for my uses. I do find that listening to music on these for prolonged periods of time (2+ hours) at more than half volume without a break can give some headpain and minor headaches. Talking/podcasts/narration doesn't seem to have the same effect, at least in my experience. The mic is surprisingly decent for answering calls on the go - most people can't tell I'm talking on a headset. Battery life is also great, and I only charge these once or twice a week. The features offered plus great product support totally justify the price for my money. These have become a daily driver and a favorite of mine; they fill a unique gap created by all of the noise-canceling and over-the-ears headsets and the awkward/misshapen/don't stay in your ears earpods-style devices, and let you hear traffic/people/etc. at the same time. Also a cool "Whoa" moment when inevitably, someone asks "What are those?" and you blow their mind when you tell them how they work. ... show more

  • AMAZING Headphones for Someone with Sensitive Ears
I cannot stand most earbuds. I'm not sure if its because I have small ears, or if they're just sensitive, but almost all bluetooth earbuds that I have tried cause irritation and pain after about 45min. On top of that, I wasn't able to workout with them because if my heartrate got too high, hearing my heartbeat would get really jarring. These headphones have provided a great alternative for earbuds! The big pros: - easy to clean and store - comfortable to wear (I've worn them for up to 6hrs with no discomfort) - decent battery life, though they're new and I expect the battery life to decline as they get older - great for working out & being in public, where I still need to hear ambient noise around me Weaknesses: - the sound quality is like a 5/10, but if you're like me and sound quality doesn't bother you, its not really a huge con (NOTE: people are complaining about the bass, but I actually enjoy the sensation of high bass vibrating against my head - weird, I know, but its just a different way of listening to my favorite songs) - I do have to wear my hair up in at least a half ponytail to keep it from catching on the headphones - not a huge deal, but just an FYI - sound bleed: at high volumes, can definitely be heard by other folks. Usually, though, when I have it that loud, I'm in a loud place anyway where people don't notice Other notes: - love that you can use earplugs to increase the sound quality. In my opinion that brings it up from a 5/10 to a 7/10. Took these on an airplane (I already use earplugs to help with ear pressure) and it worked perfectly - awesome quality for podcasts and audiobooks - silly note, but I feel like it kind of makes me look like a cyborg while I'm wearing them and I'm all about that After this pair wears out, I'm definitely getting another and/or trying out a different pair of Aftershokz (maybe the Openmove). Will update as I get some more wear out of them. ... show more

  • Totally Amazing Headphones
These "new wave of technologically advanced "bone conductive" headphones are amazing, marvelous, and fascinating. Starting with my very first listening experience, I was overwhelmed with the "amount" of background music I had not heard before and the performing artist was superlative, when compared to our listening pleasures of today. The use of bone conductive headphones is an experience significantly different from what we are used to. They simply rest on one's cheek bones directly in front of the ear opening, they are delightfully lightweight, remarkably "stay in place", even during extended listening periods. I am not activity minded, so I do not know their performance during these times. Bone Conductive Headphones were developed to maintain a low volume while in use, and I can validate this statement, from my experience using these Headphones. I enjoy softly played Classic Rock-n-Roll Music, these headphones do just that, the volume indicator on my player is just barely visible. Totally remarkable! My most negative remark toward the use of these headphones is the "noise canceling". One has to use ear plugs! I find this discomforting and I get the feeling my head and ears are full of "STUFF". One needs an area with little noise when wanting a pleasant listening experience. Hopefully this survey shares "MY" thoughts and experiences relating to the AFTERSHOCKZ bone conductive headphone. Have a Happy Day. 😊 ... show more

  • Good sound + good quality + great battery + great versatility = exceptional device
I'm not sure what level of noise cancellation can be claimed as the ear canal is still open when wearing these headphones AND the purpose of not covering the ear canal when wearing these is to be able to hear noises around you. However, I'm rating the noise cancellation at a 4/5 because even though I can still hear the noise around me, even at low volumes these headphones mask my (service-connected) tinitus. Sound quality is, of course, important and these headphones do provide good sound quality. Seating them on the bone to achieve the best sound quality can be a bit tricky if you have thick hair (unless I'm doing something wrong). I have found that "volume control" seems to be a combination of the buttons on the headphone and the device to which they are paired. If you have your source volume set to maximum there appears to still be some level of amplification with the headphone volume control. Likewise, turning the headset volume to its lowest setting while the source is set to its highest will still transmit sound waves through to the auditory organs (which is "good" for those who have a degraded hearing capability). There is an issue of people around me being able to hear what I'm listening to and know what it is. I don't know if that is an artifact of the volume I have the music set to, or something else (i.e., the properties of how sound travels), but it is certainly a consideration to take into account if comparing these to in-ear buds. Another aspect to consider is the battery life to charge ratio. I've had these for just under a week and I've used them every day. A couple days I wore them all day with music playing for more than 9 hours. Twice I've experienced them having to power themselves down (intentionally pushing the battery life envelope). Recharging them takes about 90 minutes. To me, that's a pretty impressive ratio (9+ hrs : 1.5 hrs or 6:1). I've got these multi-paired to a Samsung tablet and an iPhone and while the headphones will give you a qualitative battery level rating (high vs. medium vs. low), my tablet will report a percent charge quantitative battery level while the iPhone doesn't tell me anything. Personally, I prefer the quantitative output, but it may just take me some time to get used to the qualitative indicators to determine how long a medium or low rating will last me as I go about my day. ... show more

  • Vastly exceeded expectations, very happy.
Bought this hoping it would be suitable for either of two applications: at my PC, allowing me to hear conversations, and on my bike, allowing me to hear traffic and other cyclists. Sound quality is far better than I expected. Very clear, good range, no apparent dead zones. Do try both of the "equalizer" settings, I found one was very tinny and the other was excellent. With new headphones, I sometimes feel the need to adjust my device's equalizer output, but this was good right out of the box. For PC use, it's great. Good quality, you can still hear what's happening in the room, good bluetooth connections, etc. For bicycling, it's fantastic. It fits below the helmet, the ear straps go over it. I had to slightly loosen my neck strap, but there was no extra pressure or friction. Sound quality is good, and wind noise doesn't interfere with it. With music on at a medium volume, I can hear traffic and "car back!" calls from cyclists a hundred feet behind me. I just tested battery life, and got 10.5 hours at a low to moderate volume setting, significantly better than the six hours advertised. The fit is comfortable, the weight isn't noticeable, and the buttons are easy to reach. The only design item I'd change is the location of the USB input, it can't realistically be charged while you're wearing it. ... show more

  • These are the best headphones I've ever had!
I just bought a second pair after my last set was stolen and I couldn't stand going back to regular earbuds or headphones. Pros: Very lightweight and comfortable. You'll forget you're wearing them. Plus, because they don't cover your ears, you doing need to take them on and off to hear people or things around you. No earwax to deal with and no sweaty ears when it's hot! Very crisp audio. The way these thing put sound into your head is amazing. I primary use them for podcasts, phone calls and watching stuff on my computer and I feel like I can understand what everyone is saying very clearly. Cons: None Neutral: These don't cancel noise at all, so if you're in a loud area, you'll still hear everything around you. However, this can be good or bad. On the one hand, it can be very distracting if other people are talking while listening to a podcast. But, because of the way these things work, I can still usually hear what I'm listening to no matter what. So, even if I walk by someone mowing their yard while talking on the phone, I can hear loud noises and still hear the conversation clearly. It's also nice because I can wear them in the car and not worry about pairing my phone with my car (plus car speakers aren't great for podcasts and phone calls) and I can still hear everything around me. But, they do come with earplugs which not only block outside sounds, but also makes the headphones louder in your head! I can't recommend these enough! I also have a friend with partial hearing loss and they got a pair and they said they these allow them to hear from their left ear for the first time is years (because of their specific type of hearing loss, which I know little about). I call them my "Bone Phones" and I pretty much only take them off to charge them and I was devastated when I lost my first pair. I can't imagine ever going back to traditional headphones or earbuds after getting used to these. ... show more

  • Maybe a good deal
Got this in 2021 and it lasted 5 years. But it wasn’t used very often at all. The covering for the part that rests above your ears was the first to fall off. I’m not sure how long these should last, but given that I did t use them very often I was disappointed they didn’t last longer. They were easy to charge and lasted a good while, they worked well and were comfortable. I would probably purchase the individual ones vs these again. ... show more

  • One of the purchases I’ve ever made
Alright I just want to start off by saying, this was the second best purchase I’ve ever made in my entire life, after the Apple Watch Series 4. These headphones are absolutely incredible to run with. I ran about 250+ miles with these over the past few months and I have absolutely no complaints, no suggestions other than the battery life needs a little attention, but that is not to say the battery life is bad. It’s extremely good for how small the cells are in this headphone set. These easily gave me about 4 hours of listening time. I found myself charging it every 8 days or so, depending on use. Heavy use would be 3 days, light would be almost 2 weeks. I saw a few complaints about the range, which I was worried of, but I came to find that the range is actually much bigger than what is advertised. I easily got up to 20 feet away from my phone before it started cutting out. I use an iPhone XR for those wondering. One thing that I love too is the quickness of the connection to my phone. It’s literally instant when you turn these headphones on. There’s no noise cancellation in the slightest, which is expected because they are not over ear headphones, but, and that’s a big but, they are loud and clear enough even at 3/5 volume to easily lose track of what you’re hearing around you. I saw some complaints too about how dangerous it was if they are too loud, I tested this on a few runs and found cars are extremely easy to make out, you just have to listen closely. I don’t advise listening to it at full blast because A) it actually hurts your ears a little when it’s at full volume and B) you can’t hear anything else but the music. The use for these was simply nifty. The button on the left side starts and stops the songs, then you have the plus and minus buttons for the volume. So so simple to use and the buttons are nice and clicky and very responsive. I rarely leave reviews for anything, but I need everyone to know THESE ARE WELL WORTH YOUR MONEY AND TIME. I suggest these to every single runner I come into contact with. I was worried about the fit when I was wearing glasses or a hat, but there is no reason to worry at all. They stay on very very well. Now, keep in mind, I only use these to run. Laying down they kinda move a lot and makes the sound quality not so good. Using them walking around the house getting chores done is fantastic. Basically only use them if you’re up and at it, you’ll get frustrated if you try to use it laying down. And one more thing, as one cyclist to another, DO NOT WEAR THESE WHEN YOU ARE BIKING. Even tho you can still hear cars, they are not loud or noticeable enough to allow you to hear them thru your music. DO NOT wear these on a cycle, not because they don’t work, but because they do and I don’t want to see anyone getting hit because of it. Just a friendly reminder to stay safe when you’re on the saddle! <3 anyway, 5/5 stars. I’d rate them higher if I could. ... show more
