Top Amazon Reviews

  • Safe, good quality music.
Color: Midnight Blue
The new model is lighter and slightly more comfortable to wear then the Trek Titanium. Sound quality is a little better as well. Battery life is unchanged. I'm getting about 8-10 hours of use before they run out of power. If you are new to bone conduction headphones, I would recommend disregarding most of the negative feedback about sound quality. From what I can tell, most of it comes from people expecting studio quality sound on a Bluetooth headset being conducted through your SKULL. You're just not going to get studio quality sound on any bone conduction devices. I've also seen a few reviews complaining about the maximum volume being too low. I suspect that their phone is limiting the volume (to prevent hearing damage). I had to turn off this limitation on my phone. My set can pump out plenty of volume, more than enough to cause pain. The biggest positive for using this style of headset is that it allows you to not be cut off from the sound environment around you while you listen. Running or bicycling where you need to keep situational awareness, is much safer with these. But you will take a slight hit on sound quality. That said, I find the sound quality to be very good. I work in an area that I need to be able to hear alarms. This works very well for me in a manufacturing environment. When I want higher quality sound, I use a noise-cancelling set. They are each designed for different listening environments. I will give the next model 5 stars if the battery life is extended and the price point is less than $125. ... show more

  • Excellent For Running and Excellent Service. Look No Further
Color: Midnight Blue
I own a pair of iPods, and while I like them they do not have the battery life I need. I am a distance runner, and a slow one at that. So I do occasionally have training runs that get up to around 4 hours. So I got on Amazon to look for some bluetooth earbuds that could stand up to rain and sweat with a longer battery life. Most of the ones I looked at had only average ratings. I also checked reviews thru a general internet search to see what they had to say. That's when I came across the AfterShokz. I was drawn in by the technology that still allowed me to hear ambient noise around me. I think this is very important for any runner and is one of the disadvantages of normal earbuds. The Amazon reviews were also good. When first using these I had to get used to them. Depending on the volume there can be some vibration which makes it feel like they are falling off. They have hooks that go over the ears, so no worries there, but it does take a little getting used to. Eventually you won't even notice it. The sound comes thru like you are wearing normal earbuds. They work great. The sound is like a normal pair of earbuds, i.e., just average. If you are looking for a living room surround sound experience, these aren't going to give it to. But then again, I'm running. I don't need or want that. The sound is perfectly adequate for what I want. The volume doesn't go super high, but high enough when I'm out on the road. The point is to able to listen to music while also being aware of your surroundings. Being able to hear ambient noise doesn't really interfere with the sound. The AfterShokz definitely provide a level of safety over any in-ear listening device. This feature will also come in handy when running in a crowded race. I wear sunglasses (bifocal transition lenses) even when it's dark or cloudy. That's because I need the bifocals to be able to read my GPS watch. Sunglasses fit easily and comfortably over the ear hooks of the headphones. So, from a comfort, safety and sound standpoint these are great. They also stand up nicely to sweat and rain. The only potential problem with them is battery life. They are supposed to last for up to 6 hours and perhaps they do when being used for a single event. The longest run I have used them for is 3:50 and there was no problem. However, I did not charge them overnight following that run and they were dead the next day. So while they held up for the run they did not hold any remaining charge overnight. So now I charge them every night when I have a run the next day. I'm running a marathon in November and, as I said, I'm slow, so I expect to be out on the course for close to 5 hours. We'll see if they make it. I hope so because I do love these headphones. So right now I am giving it 5 stars. I will update this review after my race and let you know how the battery performed. On balance, best headphones I have ever used for running. UPDATE JUNE 2019 I've now used these for about 10 months and have been very happy. I ran a marathon in 4:49 and the battery held up the entire time. These are clearly the best bluetooth headphones for runners. In June of this year they stopped working. I contacted AfterShokz and filled in a short form and emailed it along with my Amazon receipt. The next day they approved the refund and sent a brand new pair of the Trekz Air. Excellent service and excellent guarantee. Just one more reason why these are the best headphones for runners. ... show more

  • Everybody should have a pair of these because we all need them.
Color: Midnight Blue
Update: So, after only 9 months my Aftershoks came to this situation after daily use and a routine charge. Believe it or not this unit still works, but it's impossible to charge again. I expect more time for the $180 I spent to purchase these and am disappointed immensely that it came to this when I was so satisfied with everything else about the product. I will miss having my Aftershokz very much but can't afford to take a chance that this may happen again...sigh I love how these things almost seem indestructible in their flexibility, never get caught on anythingand deliver exactly what you need in sound depending on your environment. I read the negative comments and was so pleased to find them to be over exaggerated in their negativity. These things are just amazing and especially great for people that do not like sticking things in their ear for long periods. Sweat? Let me tell you, you sweat less when your ears are not blocked up to allow heat to escape your head. These Aftershocks are also excellent for phone calls as the mic picks up your voice without adjusting the band position, even in noisy areas. The only two things I would want to see adjusted in these are a longer battery life, which is 2-4 hours, depending on volume levels, and a way to adjust the size as the band is slightly bigger than I need. These are minor inconveniences, to say the least add it takes no time to recharge and you can wear the phone's in many different positions. To those that push the idea that these are not true bone conduction I say try listening to them at under 100% without contact, no matter hope close to your ear, then press them in top of your head, boom, there's the song. I absolutely love these things. ... show more
