  • Easy to put together and good quality.
Recieve 3 boxes from freight company without any issues. Assembly was easy because bottom drawer section was completely assembled. Top assembled easily by myself with only minor problems which would have been better with a second person. Only issues were the hardware package was missing the Allen wrench and 2 of the screws wouldn't tighten because the thread inserts must have stripped in the wood. After assembly the bed opens up easily and is comfortable. ... show more

  • Murphy chest bed.
I love this piece of furniture. It is pretty to look at and unfolds easy. Guests say it is very comfortable.

  • Very solid and well built, mattress disappoints
Edit: the mattress has held up quite well with time. Between myself and guests, it's been slept on maybe 30 nights so far and is still very comfortable. You can definitely still bottom out on the mattress when adjusting, but it is extremely comfortable when laying down flat which is all that matters. Overall very happy with this! Unlike some other reviewers, I found the build process to be quite easy despite not being an engineer or a member of Mensa. It took 90 minutes start to finish by myself. It feels extremely solid, and the design is very well thought out. I may end up putting some additional latches on the front panel to child-proof it a bit better since the provided latches are pretty easy to flip open. The front panel doesn't free fall as soon as you do, but it'll definitely fall down if you unlatch and pull on it. My only problem is that the mattress just feels thin and cheap. It's definitely not 6" thick like the description says, my tape measure shows about 4.5" after sitting out to expand for about 12 hours. I slept on it last night to test it, and found that my hips bottom out through the mattress pretty easily when I'm rolling around or sitting up. It was pretty comfortable for side sleeping, but I may end up having to get a mattress topper or a new tri-fold mattress of higher quality eventually. ... show more

  • Don't. Just don't.
I've assembled more than my share of furniture, as has my husband. We are both smart people. I'm in Mensa, he's an engineer with a master's degree. I say that so you hopefully know this wasn't user error. Assembly of this is, in theory, easy. Easier than I'd fear. Sadly, we don't live in a theoretical word. We live in a real one where screws are too short. (For example, the screws to attach the cabinet handles were so short that if you added the washers, as instructed, they didn't even make it through the wood to grab the handle. The omission of the washer allowed them to bite the handle, just barely. ) In one other place, we had to leave off a screw because the holes didn't line up. (This was attaching the top "lid" to the side of the cabinet.) The unit would function without that, though after spending over a thousand dollars, it doesn't seem like one should have to deal with "can work without it". Some holes are not pre-drilled, which adds a lot of unnecessary work. The wood has imperfections, looks cheap, and has something that looks like marker stains that I'm hoping I can scrub off with a Magic Eraser. However, those problems pale in comparison to the thing that is currently the source of much torn out hair and marital strife. Whether due to poor quality control or a mistake in the manufacturing process, we've got bigger problems. This one is tough to explain, but the piece that serves as the cabinet front and folds out to be the base of the mattress doesn't line up properly. There are no holes drilled, but the piece is supposed to attach to the main cabinet via hinges which you screw in with wood screws. However, because the rails on the "drawer" sit too low, the surface that sits on them sits too low by about 1/4". That means that if I screwed in the hinges, the entire weight of the doors/base would basically be hanging from them, and would almost certainly pull out from the wood (or "wood") under the stain. The whole point of the rails is to take the weight; they can't do that if they are a quarter inch below the item they are supposed to support. Oh, and the flyer that comes with the piece that says to go to their website for "live chat" assistance? There is no such feature. I've send them a message. But we are likely stuck with a unit that will never be fully assembled so that the "doors" of the cabinet just rest in the unit, not actually attached, and then are lifted off and folded out as a separate piece to support the mattress. Or we have to wedge something between the rails and the base to full the gap. Fine for something that was very inexpensive, which this wasn't. Anyway, you don't care about the details. You just want to know if you should buy this. The answer is no. What you care about is the fact that the wood quality is poor and looks cheap and if you are unfortunate enough to get a unit that doesn't quite line up, you'll have a piece you can't assemble and can only use with a lot of half-assed, homemade solutions. So, don't. Just don't. Save yourself the headache. ... show more

  • Great piece of furniture
Great bed and beautiful cabinet.

  • Perfect for Our Needs
We have a two bedroom double wide mobile home in a gated 55+ community we recently moved to and my lovely wife is fixated on the idea we might have overnight guests even though we haven't had more than one occasion of them in thirty years of marriage. Sigh, OK. This unit is reasonably priced compared to many others of this class of furniture and it is of reasonable manufacture. It was packed well in two boxes. The shipping weight is just over 300lbs. Assembly was simple although the instructions might seen somewhat hazy to those uninitiated to constructing things. The average person will need the assistance of another person to help lift and align things. The completed product fits well into the second bedroom and keeps the floor space open until needed. My sweet wife is able to fold the bed out and fold it up easily by herself. The mattress is good enough for short-term guests as it is, but my Beloved felt it necessary to buy a thick mattress pad to increase comfort. Mind you, you can't fold up and stow the mattress with a mattress pad, sheets, and blankets on it, but she's happy. If you have overnight guests, I can't see you going wrong with buying this bed. ... show more
