  • Not your average inflatable kayak
Style: Pro
Just got back from my first trip. I’m very impressed. Sets up and takes down in just a few minutes. I highly recommend the inflator pump with a pressure gauge. I put a rod holder on the rear rail and it was very strong. It was extremely stable. More stable that my previous hard shell Jackson kayak. It was also quick. I’m betting on an open lake with a decent wind it will get blown around a bit. I was extra careful around underwater limbs and very gentle about beaching, but I feel like this will be fairly durable and last a good while. The biggest pain is having to dry it before storing it. Overall very happy with it. Solved my problem of how to transform a kayak with my 5th wheel. ... show more

The seam came apart after about 6 uses. Customer support is non existent. They blamed us for not letting some air out after each use but yet it's supposed to have automatic over inflation vales...hmmm. Customer supports answer was they could sell us another cover...no thank you they fail.

I have owned this now for 2 years. I have used it in WA riversfrom the Skykomish down through the Snohomish and I have run this in lakes in Utah. 400 lb capacity and more stable than any other system out there. I have to really try to roll over in this thing. From a functional expedition/fishing kayak it exceeds expectations. It tracks very well for an inflatable. I can load it up with everything I need for an entire day or for a weekend trip. Durable. Durable. Durable. I beach it on rocks with no issues. sure I have a couple of scrapes here and there now. But I am pretty hard on my stuff and this thing has been taking it. Fishing from a kayak is an amazing experience and this thing takes the worry out of it. Note: This is not the kayak you want if you are thinking about back country packing. If you intend to carry this pack into the back country, you have another thing coming. It is 50 lbs easy, just in kayak. Add your equipment and it is game over. it takes me 8 minutes to get it out of the bag to inflated ready to go. You will not be disappointed. I hit a spot on the Snohomish in faster water where my buddies lost it and landed under a deadfall across the river. I was able to track and evaded it. Where they roll over in faster water in their hardshell this thing didnt even react differently. This is a night and day difference from a hardshell kayak. ... show more

  • Wonderful in some ways, OK in others

When the Angler Pro kayak is on the water it works wonderfully! I have had several issues with it however. Inflating the floor is very hard. The valve does not want to close which means I am inflating it several times each use. That's a lot of work. There is little extra room on it. Fishing catch and Release is great. Lot of room, the chair is fantastic. If I was keeping the fish, there is little extra space unless I put the fish behind me and that is not convenient. Overall, it handles great, but the are some little things. It does take time to dry out. ... show more

  • The outer shell tore the 4th time using
Style: Pro
i have not used it for fishing yet. The 4th time using it on calm fresh water and the the shell split open while in open calm lake water. I wasn't even paddling. I saw it bust open then the inner tube was protruding through. The liner has began to bubble in several places. My GF has one that is 300 and has had no trouble. I thought the higher cost was going to mean better durability. what a was of a grand. ... show more

  • Excellent with a few gripes
Style: Pro
I've been surprised there are no reviews on this kayak. I've only used it once so far on a lake, and I had my three year old in front of me and my 80 lb lab lying behind me. The kayak itself is great. It's made well and handles great. The mounting rails work like they should. I tried standing up in it for a second, and while i'm pretty certain i would be comfortable standing in it for long periods of time, I sat back down immediately because my two co-pilots rocked the boat too much. In summary, I like the kayak a lot and I think it's worth the sale price of $700. I gave it 4 stars though because of the seat. While the seat isn't worthless and is very comfortable to sit in, it needs some attention. The first thing is that the tie down points for the seat are so far in front and behind it that you can't tie it down securely enough. It rocks back and forth a bit, and I see it being annoying once i get it on a river. The other thing is that the two adjustable straps holding the back rest up are a little cheesy. The first problem i had was that the four bolts holding them to the seat are only finger tight from the factory. During the drive to the lake, one of the nuts completely backed off and was lost. I hadn't realized this, and when i put the kayak in the water and sat in the seat for the first time, only one strap was holding the backrest up and the slide buckle on that strap immediately broke in two. I ended up having to just tie the straps in a knot for the day. Not only are the buckles of inferior quality and assembly half-cocked, but the straps themselves are not thick enough where they are bolted to the seat, and they will definitely eventually rip from the bolts. I will be replacing the entire back rest strap affair with something better; hopefully with stainless slide buckles. I'm not sure if the seat tie-down issue will be bad enough that it will need to be resolved. It held fine on the lake and it looks like making an improvement will require more creativity than I've yet been able to come up with. All in all, I don't regret my purchase. ... show more
