For the price it's pretty good. The sound is decent. For an 8 yo. who will probaby drop it a few times, it's a good violin. When they get older and mature, buying the high end violins will be in the future. I'm excited to give this to my new student.

I purchased this for a beginner violinist. I would give it 5 stars if it wasn’t out of tune Every time we practice. I don’t know if that’s normal, but it seems to be a headache.

First of all this came broken a light weight it’s so bad . If you turn the pegs the string will pop . When I played it sounds so bad you can’t even play with it. And waste of money.

Generally it’s a pretty good starter kit and it plays. The violin itself looks pretty nice and there are only a few small visual defects. I’m definitely no expert in setting bridges or pegs, but I think it should be noted that the peg is set off to one side and not directly under the bridge. I do know enough to understand peg location can make or break an instrument, but in this case it does not stop it from playing good enough to learn. The bow is also reasonable for a starter, but it’s clearly pretty cheap and likely won’t last very long. The electronic tuner that came with the set works, but lacks a battery and instructions. I recommend looking up instructions on how to use one. Trying to tune this unit was a little frustrating, but I’ve never used traditional pegs (only geared) before and they take a little technique development and possibly some peg oil. I found it frustrating that the rosin came in a broken mess, but it does happen as I’ve purchased rosin in the past and seen it then. The case is pretty cheap, but generally sufficient. Overall it’s not a bad set, but the price around a hundred seems a bit high.
