It really doesn't work well. I followed the instructions exactly, set the angle as suggested - truth be told, I had to get my teen to set the angle because the printing on the knob is almost impossible to read - and started the process of sharpening. BE CAREFUL! The magnet slipped and I nearly cut myself. My knife ended up duller after the process. Save yourself the money and buy a regular sharpening stone for half the price.

I am happy with this sharpener, but perhaps the price is a little high when compared to the other Xarilk sharpeners. It has the same diamond diamond plates as the other sharpeners, but it takes a bit of effort and coordination to use it properly. The sharpener is basically two pieces. One piece holds the knife at an angle (it is adjustable from 0 to 40 degrees per side) while the other piece holds the diamond plate and has little roller balls on the bottom so that it can be moved easily and smoothly as you hone the blade of the knife. I tried this sharpener on several of my knives and it did a good job of restoring dull blades as well as honing blades to a nice level of sharpness. The most difficult part is getting the blade angle correct. I had to guess at this, but the instructions provide the most common angles used for various knives. On some blades I had to use the #320 grit block for quite a while to restore very dull edges. This is especially true for edges that are notched or that have been previously sharpened poorly. This sharpener will keep a consistent angle, so if you are using it for the first time on a knife that doesn't have a consistent angle you will have to work through a bit of metal. I would suggest setting up on a cutting board, rather than your counter top, however. In practice as you use the sharpener there will be fine metal powder and this can make it under the rolling part so that you'll get some marking on your countertop. Fortunately I figured this out and did not have permanent damage to my quartz countertop. For the money, it might be better to spend a little more and get one of the more expensive Xarilk sharpeners. This one takes a bit of finesse to use.

This is a very useful knife sharpener kit. It’s nice because it is portable and it is easy to adjust the angle from 10 to 40°. It also has removable sharpening plates from course to fine. It is very easy to set up and use. This is a very high-quality Knife sharpener and it works really really well. I highly recommend this product.
