The media could not be loaded. I've been on the hunt for the perfect chairs to replace old furniture for a couple of seasons now. I wanted to have HDPE for its durability, and there are a LOT of options available for HDPE chairs. There is a retail store not far from me that sells these types of poly wood Adirondack chairs, and I nearly bought them there because it was the only place I could find a chair that had a very convincing wood-grain appearance in the HDPE material. Well, let me tell you, these chairs from ACUEL are not only just as good - maybe better - than those, but I bought a set of 4 for just slightly more than the price of ONE chair at that store. This is one of those rare cases in which the better value is actually the better product. First, let's talk about the material. It is heavy - probably heavier than you think - and obviously durable. I chose the dark brown, and it looks so much like wood that you have to get right up on it to see that it isn't. And even then, you have to be paying attention. The HDPE material has a surprisingly nice feel - a little bit of give and a smoothness that you can't expect with wood. Looking at the material on the cut edges also gives me confidence that the coloration goes all the way through (not a surface treatment), so surface scratches shouldn't result in light-colored blemishes. They are “oversized," and I was a little worried they were going to be comically large. Don't worry about that. The oversized basically translates into a chair that is a little bit bigger in every dimension, with a higher back and easier to get in and out of. I'm very happy with the size for that reason alone - you don't sit so low to the ground as with other smaller Adirondack chairs, and getting in and out is likely doable for even someone with mild to moderate mobility issues. The wide, stable armrests provide very good leverage for lowering yourself into the seat and pushing yourself out, if needed. These particular chairs do not fold and do not stack. ACUEL also sells a folding version, but I wanted the size and stability of no moving parts. So make sure you have space for them as-is if you plan to store them or transport them, although the very rugged nature of HDPE makes me not really care so much about winter storage. You get exactly the number of bolts needed to put it together, and an Allen wrench. I put them together myself, but it would be faster and easier with a partner, especially when you get to putting on the back, which has to basically be held suspended in place while you get it together. But it can be done alone with patience and maybe a little ingenuity as to how you'll support pieces as you get them together. The hardware is of very good quality. FYI, I also purchased the lounge chair in the same dark brown from ACUEL. It matches exactly and is just as high quality.

I simply love these chairs! We live on the Gulf and I am tired of the struggle with damage to metal, wood, and fabric. I've been wanting to purchase a poly wood type product for quite a while, but the cost of "name brand" outdoor poly has been quite prohibitive. Then I found these chairs! They arrived well packaged and partially assembled. The seats and backs are in one piece, you put them together with the arm supports and side legs. They are easily completed with the tools supplied and I had no problem with damage nor misaligned holes. The chairs are heavy and sturdy. The "oversize" is perfect for my 6'4" hubby and very comfy for me with a pillow. I bought the gray weathered chairs and looove the color! The "wood" is textured plus the color is a blend of gray/white/cream, as shown in the closeup, which will help to hide any dust or impact from our harsh weather. Unfortunately the seller does not offer the same gray accessories in this line so I paired the gray with white tables and foot stools. I'm looking forward to using this set, carefree, for years to come!

I purchased this brand because I had purchased chaise loungers from the same brand (by chance) last year and was happy with the look & quality. These chairs are no different. They have the rustic/weathered kind of look I was going for (I got the lighter brown), they have some heft to them, they’re sturdy, and they’re really easy to put together. I’d argue that they’re just as good, if not better, than the super expensive well-known brand of HDPE outdoor furniture. I liked them so much that I also purchased rocking chairs for my front porch! Sadly, they’re out of the light brown now. I wanted to purchase 2 more!

The quality is there, it looks great, is easy to assemble but I do have 1 gripe. The seat creaks or squeaks when sitting or standing up. No matter who sits on it, even a child, the seat makes a loud noise that makes me concerned about longevity. The squeak is coming from the seat slats. The frame however is quite strong. If for some reason the seat does give out, It would not be hard to replace the slats with real wood and stain dark brown. I have considered replacing with wood now, just to get rid of the noise all together. I'm hoping the bolts are outdoor metal and won't rust but that remains to be seen. It would not be hard to buy new bolts and screws in the event they start to rust. I knocked 1 star off for the squeaking noise but over all I think the product is pretty great. It would be nice if there were matching items for the black brown. No foot rest, no side table, at least not at the time of this review.

I rated this chair 5 stars since it's very comfortable and especially because it's the only one I found that is big enough to support my legs and my head (I'm 5'7", 132 pounds, not so large). I like the angle of the back too. I find it most comfortable using a half-inch closed-cell foam to cushion my back and head. I like the weathered wood look, but the "cut" ends don't look weathered so the side view looks a little odd approaching the chair up the steps to the deck. Kind of wish I had selected the dark brown. Very easy and straight-forward to assemble. The only reason I debated the half-star is that when I sit on the very front to put on or remove my yard boots, the front slat or two creak. I am able to deform them slightly if I just press on one board. I am careful to sit farther back in the chair now, since I like it so much I want it to last and last. Would buy more of these if I needed more
