This was a decent shirt. It wasn't super thick but not super thin. It served its purpose as my son was wearing it to soccer camp in the middle of summer in the south but I wouldn't have loved it if it was something he was going to wear as an every day shirt. It's hard to tell about it's cleanability because he did wear it playing soccer and had red popsicles after. There is a little evidence of those events but we shall see after several more washes. ... show more

My son wore this shirt for the first time just a few days ago and upon picking him up from school I noticed this shirt covered in various colors. I asked him what it was and he didn't know, nor did he know how this brand new shirt was already now littered with stains. For the purpose of this review I asked him what he thought of the shirt and his response was positive. He said the shirt was very comfortable, helped keep him cool during recess, very lightweight, and overall he really seemed happy with it. I got the general impression that if this is clean hanging in his closet he wont hesitate to go for it. He's 10 and as such I ordered the recommended small, 9-11, and although the shirt fits I don't feel he has much room to grow. Now, in fairness to the shirt, he does turn 11 in October, so this does fit appropriately but it is making sense as to why most clothing companies offer size 6-8, skip 9 for some reason and just to 10-12. Now to the bit in the title where I mentioned how it washes... I use Tide, Oxiclean, Downy Rinse and Refresh and pretreat as needed. For the most part it gets our clothes clean with some exceptions. As this shirt was brand new and very white, now covered with a myriad of colors, I had accepted the reality that he may have permanently stained this shirt the first time he wore it. He's a 10 year old boy and acts accordingly. However, just tossing it in with some other whites, no bleach but did use Oxiclean white revive, and it came out immaculate. I, for some reason, feel some of this falls on the material of the shirt and not my washing routine. As the washer of the laundry my only basis for feeling this is a hunch. Final thoughts: The sizing 9-11 (S) does seem odd as 10-12 is more typical, but the shirt is comfortable, fits great, keeps him cool and cleans up easily. If youre looking for a moisture wicking shirt, you cant go wrong with this one. ... show more

The large is a little on the big side for my slender 14 year old, but not so much it looks oversized, and I'm sure he'll continue to grow into it! The fabric is not the standard "shiny smooth" sports-type material he loves, it is definitely textured in a scratchy sort of way, but not so much that he won't wear it, and I think that lends to it's wicking properties.
