The media could not be loaded. This is a fun way to learn some Arduino programming, and working with sensors. It’s a fun kit with lots of lights, it took me a couple hours to put together. My son helped me with this one and he has really learned a lot from this kit.

  • A challenging project for children and beginners alike

It's a nice kit but it will require a lot from the builder, especially for beginners. That said, building the robot isn't too hard at all. In fact, I'd say just about or easier than most model kits. I'd say that the challenge is on the backend, software-wise. Installing the OS and all of the requisite programs just to be able to program the darn thing can be an excruciating process to say the least. Some of you will probably find better use of your time than to bother completing it. But it can be and is a rewarding experience at the end so I'd urge all those of you reading to keep on truckin'. That said, I did deduct a point as the documentation could've been written better. There's a lot of materials to cover and a few of them aren't even that necessary. So the whole thing could've been reduced down to a more easier, singular read in my opinion. Moreover, the user needs to order a separate 18650 battery to power on the device which obviously adds to the cost, driving down its overall value. 4 out of 5 stars. ... show more

This Adeept Smart Car Kit is seriously awesome! I got it for my grandson who’s just starting out with robotics, and it’s been a blast. The build is straightforward, and the step-by-step guides make it easy to follow even if you’re new to this stuff. I love that it works with Arduino IDE — it’s a great way for kids to actually write real code and see it come to life. The sensors for line tracking and obstacle avoidance are super cool, and the little OLED screen adds a neat touch. Plus, the remote control lets him drive it around without wires, which is a lot of fun. Very challenging project and requires lots of intuition plus lots of troubleshooting. The parts and the instructions are not very intuitive. There was alot of guesswork followed by rework during assembly as the instructions were not very clear at all. Programming is a long process as well and still an ongoing project as we haven't figured it all out yet. Another reviewer gave lots of technical details that has been quite helpful in our quest for success in this project. I believe the name was S. MILLER. I'd say this is definitely NOT for a beginner or first timer. Probably easy for a HS youth with a programming background class or 2 and with some robotics class experience but for me it is a frustration. ... show more

This is a great high educational valued toy where you can learn about coding. This is not for the light hearted. All the instructions that come with it are pretty in depth and have more than 300 pages of instructions for it and 19 lessons. The pages are download only, they do not come included with the product. This is a nice little Arduino-compatible robotics project kit. It has all the basic stuff you will need to get started with Arduino-based hobby robotics. It might be nice if it contained a few additional sensor types, for instance (it really only has line-following and ultrasonic distance sensors). I got this for my nephew, who spends nights at my house. We work on it together and have managed to make it last for a couple of his trips so far. He has always been interested in STEM and as an engineer myself, I enjoy sparking that interest in him. There are some challenging aspects but its both fun and educational. This looked like a great educational project for my son, but after starting the project, twelve seems a little young since we will have to learn this together. I didn't see any recommendations for age on the product page. I am really disappointed that we have to download 320 pages of instructions. I wish there was an included book.
