Only difference is this doesnt exfoliate so you can use an exfoliating face cloth, or its good when your skin is sensitive or finally clear when you don't need daily a exfoliator anymore. This face wash has become a staple in my nightly beauty routine. I leave in on for a few min as a “mask” in the shower. It’s strong and effective but also gentle and not super drying.

I have tried a few AcneFree products but this is the one I always re-order. Similar to the old Proactiv 3-step benzoyl formula but less grainy. This is really smooth almost like a lotion. Less drying than Panoxyl and ok for use daily, twice a day (at least for me) when using a gel moisturizer at night and a SPF during day. Large bottle, lasts a long time. the flip top is convenient, too.

I have now used this 3 times. I noticed a difference in my skin after the first wash with it. It is "fragrance free" but to me everything has some scent. This one to me smells like water. Like when you are near a waterfall or a enclosed area with lots of running water. It is a very pleasant fresh clean smell. I love the way it feels on my skin. There is no burn you sometimes experience with acne washes. Just a nice clean, moisturized feel, and a noticeable improvement in breakouts.

For reference I’m female nearing 30 and my skin type is.. clogged. Is easily clogged a skin type? I don’t have thick ruddy skin, more like delicate but stubborn and easily clogged skin (comedonal acne not inflammatory acne). I pretty much can’t use any type of lotion, gel, oil, or moisturizer except maybe fresh aloe and everything else aggravates and clogs up my face. My pores clog easily from environmental factors as well as touching my face.. it is what it is. I use this face wash as a sort of contact therapy for acne and clogged pores.i wash my face once a day before bed so I only use this product (obviously) once a day. Sometimes I wash my face with a different face wash first and then use this one as a mask and leave it on 10 minutes and barely feel a tingle. Other times I put it on and it burns within seconds (in which case I rinse off quickly). Point is that this CAN and WILL compromise your moisture barrier and is prone to user error. BUT this has cleared up my face more than any other product that I have tried! It’s really quite shocking. What it WONT do (if your acne is like mine) is get rid of a clogged pore that is already formed and taking residence on your face. It may help it come to a head for extraction, and I’m totally fine with that.. but the true amazing thing is the PREVENTION that this face wash has provided. I still have clogged pores.. but not 100s more like 20. Huge difference. Bottom line: if you leave this on like a mask for several minutes or however long you decide, you will highly likely make a mistake and over dry your skin so be very, very careful. I’m sure it’s safer to just lather rinse but that’s not the way I do it and I wanted to share my experience. This face wash has really helped my skin and I’m happy with the results. UPDATE: Since I left such a detailed review I felt the need to update. I rarely use this face wash at this point because it was drying me out with daily use and dry skin=clogged pores for me. I WILL use it when I have the active/inflammatory acne popping up. Lately I have actually be attempting to heal my skin with honey. Yes honey, raw and COLD PRESSED (important) I spread it on my face use it like a mask and wash it off. It’s been a slow process, not a quick fix (I’m playing the long game) but I have been slowly seeing my skin get clearer and also leaves my face feeling moisturized. So basically I only use honey most days but I will occasionally use traditional face wash. It’s been working really good I’m actually quite impressed. Google “washing face with honey” and read some blogs if your interested and remember don’t use anything but the thick whiteish honey that comes in a jar (aka cold-pressed). I have sensitive oily skin and this product didn’t break me out and it’s clearing my acne without leaving my face feeling super dry. It’s affordable and seems to be working for me. (my acne isn’t completely gone but my face, for the most part, is clear :) )
