Great alternator
Installed this in my Pontiac G8 GT awhile back and still works great!!

100% OEM Replacement for G8 GT.
This fit/worked for my 09 G8 GT. Get this OEM Replacement part and don’t even mess with aftermarket manufactures or Remans. The original alternator failed at 244k miles and was replaced recently with an Ultima Reman. It lasted less than 6 months and 7k miles.. Headlights would intermittently FLASH, not a slight surge but flash bright and then super dim. Monitored voltage and it spiked all over from 13.3V to 16V. Anything over 16V and the BCM kills the dash lights, radio, etc… Replaced with this GM part (It’s manufactured by Mitsubishi for GM, just like the originals. They are the ONLY manufacturer that has the specs that the G8 requires. The alternator is internally regulated but the ECM regulates the field winding. The aftermarket regulators are not to spec and voltage will be all over the place and the BCM does not like it) It has the exact same labeling, identical in appearance regulator and wire stud, etc. 10/10 would buy again and again. Cheaper to source here than 500$ from the dealer. Saw multiple complaints in other reviews. 1. No weird through the fender well/from the bottom stuff is required. Remove the idler pulley and then the 3rd bolt for the Alt bracket and the alt comes right up in between the WP and PSP. 2. Zero grinding to get it to bolt up… the bracket has floating spacers in it that adjust up as you tighten the bolts. Put the bracket in a vice with a socket and drive the spacer out(loose) then assemble and tighten down and all will snug up together. Good luck!

Fixed my issue at a reasonable price
Installation was easy for me, I drove to my selling dealer and paid them to install it. Dealers get a bad name but mine who sold me my '09 Pontiac G8 GT has been great. To some extent they price match on parts and as in this case, if I bring in GM parts they will install AND honor the parts warranty.

Fit Like A Glove
Hello, I just installed this alternator on my 2009.5 G8 GT.. I found that it was easier for me to jack up the front right and take off the tire. I did that for easy access to the plug and the charging wire, and the rear support for the alternator. I removed the air filter assy to give me a little more room. Mine wouldn't come out until I unbolted the P/S Pump and moved to the side. It fit like a glove: How can we say BUTTER Smooth... I put everything back together and hooked up the battery.. Hit the key and no more noise.. The original one was making a lot noise from one or both of the bearings. The other really cool thing was that I ordered it on Saturday morning and got the next day. Delivery on a sunday evening.. That's cool..

2009 G8 GT charging fix and money saving tips
Recently had my 2009 G8 GT charging light popping on and off every 2-3 days briefly @92k thought maybe a loose cable. After about 10 days light would stay on either over or under charging> You can enter engineering mode to watch output and verify as well as watch battery charge state drop like a brick off the empire state building. This is your solution Best price, fast service & delivery, and Oem part. Search G8 forums on step by step replacement, Big 3 hints disconnect battery 1st too much solid state electronics or you will be way worse off shorting or burning out modules, don't disconnect PS line remove pump from bracket and move to side avoid the leaks, and such tight tols of factory fit file down inside of alternator brackets or tabs on alternator just enough to make it slide in or fight, fight, fight to get it in place and bolts in so no stripped threads. And, You should probably replace radiator since you will crack upped neck and not know it until it goes under pressure. And, your motor goes no coolant, full blown overheat within minutes. Yeah seems like a lot yet smart ideas and shopping if your gonna do it yourself to save money. Do, it smart and save your money by do it right or pay someone to.

Exact part number, looks like it.
Purchased for my 2008 pontiac GT g8, and it seems to be the correct part...as far as the numbers go. Purchased it as the price was right, paid 212, and just noticed that the priced dropped to under 200. Not bad for a new part, as these are going for over 300 elsewhere. I basically purchased it to have it on hand if my alternator ever decides to go. I'll update this whenever I actually get around to replacing it. There was one problem, the item arrived damaged, however, nothing major as far as I can tell.....The plastic isolator cap where the positive side cable connects to is damaged. Without this part, you will short out the alternator possibly starting a fire. I'll be taking the part off my orginal alternator and putting it on the new one. It broke as the orginal box seems to have been too small and not enough packing material in it. I can't see where the box was damaged, so it may have broken when it was "dropped" into the box? I can ship the orginal back, and buy the newer one for a few dollars cheaper, but it's not that big of a deal and I did give them 5 stars. So...basically I'm good with it.

Great OEM Product. Needs to be packed better.
The alternator works well. However, the front bracket was damaged. Some of the spokes on the body of it were cracked off like as if it was dropped. I'd highly suggest packing this item a lot better.
