  • Sweet product...great customer service.
This little pickup is worthy of praise. It finds the true sound of my instrument (accordion) and with a small amp. I have just the bigger sound needed for outdoor and hall performance. I unfortunately was unable to use it because of attachment problems with my instrument (wood surface made suction cup not very effective, and I was a sissy fearful of marring the beautiful surface with either adhesive backed velcro or external screws). So I sadly chose to return the little gem. The customer service at Meyers was outstanding. At first I misunderstood the suggestions offered for alternative attachment methods, and still wanted to return the pickup for refund. After several solicitous emails from Meyers, seeking to satisfy hesitancy and solve my dilemma, I did return the item, after all, but with full refund, no cost shipping, usps pickup of package at my rural mail box, and a friendly offer of help and/or service in the future. Such customer service is a textbook example of how retail business SHOULD work. Thank you Greg Meyers I have recommended Meyers to my guitar playing friends,as well as to my flute, mando and fiddle playing colleagues...without reservation! As for me? Maybe when I have another accordion...celluloid surface....Yes! Meyers.. ... show more

  • Excellent product and easy to use!
I play a vintage DaVinci accordion, but the built-in pickup often causes the sound crew issues. Finally, in desperation I ordered the Myers pickup for accordions and I must say I've been very impressed at the ease of use as well as the performance. The first time I used it, I could actually project along with the rest of the band. Interestingly, Gregg Myers, the president of the company that makes them is extremely accessible and communicative, a rarity in most transactions today. I can recommend this product without reservation. Another accessory you might want to consider is a preamp to go along with it. I've used the LR Baggs Para Acoustic D.I. with great results. Using this setup gives you plenty of volume at the board and eliminates the need for a direct box. ... show more

  • Yet another very satisfied customer!
First of all, I can only add yet another positive vote for both the product line and for the truly one-of-a-kind customer support that Gregg Myers offers. It's very uplifting during an age when so many companies have abandoned quality and outsourced their support to foreign agents, just to make a few extra bucks. The mic unit appears to be carefully made and capable of surviving for a long time. I can tell you the mic works well and so far I'm not having any feedback problems. Naturally, when a mic is very close to the instrument, it tends to pick up more mechanical noise. But there is a lot of music where that can actually enhance the rhythmic appeal of the presentation. I'm using the simple, basic single mic unit on one of my accordions (a Hohner Concerto III). The single mic seems to do a nice job picking up the accordion sounds. I stuck the suction cup to the treble side cover, on the front, right next to where the accordion bellows attach. I aimed the mic towards the middle of the bellows. This is different from the illustrations you see where the mic is stuck to the bottom of the treble cover, which means the mic is not too close to just the highest pitched reeds. I think my placement, although it is not cosmetically pretty, provides me a pretty good balance between the bass and treble sounds of the accordion. I would not use this configuration for recording, but for just basic sound reinforcement on a small and informal stage, I think this is going to work nicely for me and save me a lot of money. Ask Gregg for one of his extra light Mogami signal cables if you're going to connect the mic unit to a belt-worn wireless transmission pack. And if you are first-time buyer, be prepared to be surprised and pleased. ... show more

  • Great pickup, great service!
I am extraordinarily pleased with this product. I play accordion in a church choir and have always had difficulty in terms of amplification. It's been an issue I've struggled with for years. Typically, I end up just camping out in front of a condenser mic and hope that the sound technician can pick up my signal and mix it in with the other voices/instruments. I'm forced to stay in a relatively stationary position and had mixed success on having myself heard at all. Since getting this product a month ago, I am utterly sold on it's effectiveness. It allows me to have more natural playing posture as well as having the freedom to move around a bit. The suction cup grip is solid and have not had any issues of it falling off. The signal that comes through is decently strong; it works for solo performance as well as simple recording. However, I did end up grabbing a pre-amp mixer to give my signal the extra "punch" to more easily keep up with other electrified instruments (guitar, keyboard, etc.). I have gotten positive feedback from both my fellow musicians as well as members of the congregation. Like the documentation states, it takes some experimentation to find the optimum position for getting the sound you want. I've even been able to use this pickup for amplifying some of my other acoustic instruments and it is quite effective. Though I may end up going for the "The Feather" Model. Finally, I'd like to mention my experience with the owner Gregg Myers. Gregg is very keen on winning over customers one at a time and has reached out to keep me informed on shipping detail as well as to make sure I am completely satisfied with the product. Seeing other people's feedback on their interaction with Gregg was honestly one of the deciding factors in my ordering of this pickup. This is not a wholesale manufacturer trying to sell as many items as possible, but a personal interaction that is rare in the age of internet shopping. ... show more
