Here is the deal ... I do a lot of DYI auto repair and show car work for myself and friends. Busting a bolt or messing up a nut and destroying threads happens more than we like. I have several older partial tap & die sets (Metric & SAE) and have been looking a a decent (without spending crazy money complete set for both.) I determined to get all the sizes and pitches (esp for metric) you need to get two seperate sets (metric & SAE) I was hoping for everything in one. This set has .75, 1.0, 1.25, 1.5, and 1.75 pitches, which is all of them. You are not going to get all of these pitches in a combo set. Example Subaru wheel lugs take a 12x1.25 this pitch is not in many sets. The case is solid, the tools look well made. Talk to me in a few years, I will tell you how they hold up. But, I see no issue with these tools. Will up date this review upon further use of the set. 5-stars so far, everything you need metric at a reasonable price. ... show more

So ive had these for a while now and don't have anything but minor complaints the holders are ok if your using the bigger sizes for the taps the smaller holder striped for me but would suggest you have a different adapter for those. The taps work as long as your not over doing it . make sure you notice what kind of tap your using because one is taper while the other is more for dead holes/blind holes. the one picture I've seen with the broken tap the guy is trying to tap cast steel/ iron and that is a pain and very hard to tap without a feel to know when things are going to break. the die seem decent but i wish the were hex instead of round because i cant always get the holder for those all places. think wheel studs. I just got done taping a 12 x 1.75 hole for a frame bolt for a transmission crossmember and didn't try to force it. worked good. id give it 4 stars for the price compared to what id pay off the tool truck. A good buy if you don't have set but wouldn't use these for production work. ... show more

A metric tap and die set this large for only ~$100 is pretty insane, so you have to keep that in mind when buying this. It’s not the highest quality I have ever seen, nor did I expect it to be, it is a little bit rough when it comes to the machining, but it’s still acceptable. I can’t speak for the accuracy yet, but my intention is to use it to cut both male and female threads, which I’m sure match up quite well within the set. I have no idea how it will hold if you’re trying to use previously cut threads. For the price I’m pretty happy ... show more

These are cast poorly you will need to use a thread file to remove burs from most of the taps and will still ruin most of the threads youre trying to fix. Use at your own risk.

Although this set is not made out of high quality material, it is still pretty darn good and at a very good value. Really enjoy having this set around for when those special projects come in. For the typical hobbyist, this is the perfect set. Very much recommended.
