The manufacturer of this after market earpod is listed on Amazon as PUTAONIMENG, however in the microscopic white text on a black background documentation it says the device is a Xiaomi SU7. Xiaomi is a huge, and frankly kind of good quality, Chinese electronics manufacturer, so I'd guess PUTAONIMENG is just a reseller. The left earbud on my 1st generation airpods pro (that I bought in early 2020) was intermittently bursting into static and frequently needed to be removed from my ear, replaced into the case and then put back into my ear. It was really annoying - sometimes I even needed to do that multiple times before it started behaving! I was looking down the barrel of buying a new set AirPods Pro for over $200 (or a single replacement earbud for $89) from Apple when I found out these aftermarket units were available so I thought I'd try getting a left one. This one costs $67, which represents a 25% discount over Apple's price. I was on the fence about buying this - was the right earbud also past its prime, how much more battery capacity did the charging case have? Anyway, everybody reading this knows what I paid for it so I went for it. I told my iPhone to "Forget" my AirPods Pro, replaced the malfunctioning left earbud in the charging case, waited half an hour for it to charge and then paired it with my iPhone. Remember to press the button on the case until it blinks white before pairing. After that it worked successfully - all the controls worked the same way and I couldn't tell any difference in audio quality. On my iPhone I took screenshots of everything in the AirPods Pro BlueTooth settings both before and after replacing the left earbud and everything was curiously identical. However, when I connected the new setup to my Mac and generated a System Report from within System Settings → General → About, in the BlueTooth section I could see separate serial numbers for the case and the left & right earbuds. There I could confirm the serial numbers for only the left earbuds were different. During that process my original left earbud blew static twice whereas the replacement didn't (a good sign). So while I'm delighted everything appears to be fixed, I'm actually kind of surprised Apple allow such blatant ripping off of their IP. In the attached picture, my original earbud is on the right. It appears I have nothing to complain about and the experience was all positive. Well, I could grizzle a little because the packaging for this was all foam and plastic when it could very easily have been cardboard and paper, but it was only a small amount and certainly not enough to knock off a star. Given the static blasting problem was intermittent, I'll be sure to revisit my 5 star review if the issue returns. I rarely give 5 star reviews...

I picked this up because one of my airpod pros (1st gen) was constantly making crackling noises when I moved my head. I followed the video unpairing and repairing instructions on the product page and everything worked as expected. This looks, feels, and sounds indistinguishable from my other working airpod. Which is great. Yet...I have some mixed emotions about this product. On the plus side, it seems to be every bit as good as the original Apple airpod pro it replaced. I don't know how I feel about what appears to be infringement of Apple's IP but won't let that weigh in on this review as it would be highly speculative. What *does* matter, though, is value. These are priced at ~25% less than if you buy a replacement directly from Apple (~30% if they are doing a discount coupon). That's not nothing. But personally I would probably pay the extra twenty bucks or so to get Apple's warranty vs chasing down a 3rd party manufacturer if you have a problem 3 months after purchase. Because it did indeed work as described, if you're extremely budget conscious its an ok way to save some money.

Important: If you’ve never replaced a single earbud before, here’s what you need to know, you must unpair the device and reset the earbuds in the case. Follow the small instruction card that comes with it, or the replacement won’t work. At first, I thought mine was defective, but then I actually read the card (I had mistaken it for an ad insert, oops!) and realized it had the proper instructions. On my last work trip, my left earbud started making this awful static noise, making it impossible to watch a movie on the plane. Thankfully, the flight wasn’t full of screaming kids like the one out to the site! I assumed the static meant the earbuds were trash and I’d need to buy an entirely new set. While browsing Amazon, I found this single replacement and decided to give it a try, and it worked perfectly! The sound is amazing. I didn’t even realize how bad my original left earbud had gotten until I paired this one, once it was charged and connected, it felt like I had a brand new set. The audio is crisp and clear, and music sounds fantastic again. I’m so glad I found this and didn’t have to buy a whole new pair. Definitely a great value for the price, and the quality is absolutely excellent!

I received this PUTAONIMENG A2083 right-side AirPod replacement after my original died (again—dogs keep chewing them up!), and I’m so glad I didn’t have to pay Apple’s $89 fee.
