This seal is cheap and belongs in the trash. Installed the seal and drove 15 miles and it started pouring oil. If I could give it zero stars I would. It’s made from cheap material and is not made for anything other than the trash can. I would not recommend this seal. I installed a name brand seal and it has held up for months now. I usually don’t read reviews before I buy a part but the reviews that says it leaks I would pay attention to them. ... show more

This was not the most expensive part available but worked really well. You have to be careful positioning the cover gasket as it has a bit of spring to it. Also lube the sealing surface of the crank and carefully press the seal onto the back of the crank as you push out the preinstalled white plastic ring. The oil seal has a tendency to roll a bit at the edge as you slide it on. (mine did) It caused a small leak for about a week till it worked itself out - no leaks at all now. ... show more

I removed the transmission in my 99 Silverado to have it rebuilt. (It only took me about 17 hours, on my back in my driveway. Why I decided to do it myself is beyond me!) "While I was in there" I decided to address the several leaks...one of them being the rear main seal. I bought this kit and installed it. I also installed a new dogbone, a new oil cooler bypass gasket, and a new oil pan gasket. I finally got my transmission back from the guy who rebuilt it, and had to recruit a friend to help me get the transmission back in place. So after spending another 15 hours installing the transmission, transfer case, drivelines, electrical connections, exhaust, and filling everything with fluid, I started it up and went for a test drive; about 10 minutes around the neighborhood. I parked back in my driveway and looked underneath: oil is POURING out from the bottom of the bellhousing. Grrr!!! So I had to remove my transmission AGAIN to see if this kit was leaking. I was out of time and had to hire somebody to help me; to the tune of $450. Sure enough...the circular seal was leaking. We replaced it with an OEM GM kit, put it all back together (another 15 hours on my back), and now: no leaks. Bottom line: don't trust this kit. :-( I'm returning it for a refund, but of course I threw away the box weeks ago, but they'd better refund me anyway. ... show more

Poor quality , leaked more oil than the original with over 200,000 miles don’t waste your time and money
