  • Better than the last
After reading the 2nd book of midnight I was ready for him to regain my attention. Like any relationship, you have your highs and lows and I wanted it to be his redemption. It had me excited but it didn’t get me all the way there. I’ve grown accustomed to ignoring the complete disdain for American black women and the praise for anything other than. Because the reality is, people feel that way. But this story has some inconsistencies that I would’ve hoped could’ve bridged some gaps. It was interesting. Looking deeper into midnights thoughts, I still appreciate him as much as I did the first book. But I wish the author would’ve allowed some new and refreshing ideas to enter into the fold. We know he’s Muslim. We know he has restraint. We know he has wives. We know he’s protective. We know how he thinks. What else can make us comeback besides loyalty? I appreciate this book, it was a decent story. But I kept reading it because I needed to complete the series. Not from excitement. ... show more

  • Worth the read, just pay attention
*spoilers* (please skip if you haven't read) I'm going to play devils advocate on this one. I really enjoyed this series because to me it's very well written, yes it can seem almost impossible but well written nonetheless. It does seem confusing in comparison to "The Coldest Winter Ever", but again playing devil's advocate. What I think may not make sense but then again maybe it does to someone. In TCWE, he wrote in his letters about his time in prison etc. Is it possible he used someone else story to throw off the truth about himself to Sister Souljah? Maybe he lied to her about his wife and children because he didn't want her to know much about his personal life as he also did with his best friends. They had no clue about multiple wives so why would he tell sister souljah, a woman he just met. Same as far as his mother's story goes; she wasn't a drug mule but Lavidicus' mother was and her story is parallel to what he wrote in his letters. He has a general contempt for American women and Americans in general but you have to see it from his perspective; He was raised in a country with morals and values of a certain extent (not downing anyone just again devil's advocate) so of course he's going to feel some type of way if he was raised in a different environment. He's use to a certain type of class if you will and to interact with the women and people he interacted with rubbed him the wrong way. I like to see the difference which is what attracted me to his character. He's devout in his views and he refused to change who he was to comfort someone else. I do believe a fourth book would tie all loose ends together, time will tell if it happens. With most of the anger or disappointments I've seen in other reviews i think Sister Souljah proved her point as far as judging someone because they refuse to comprise to what you want and believe. Granted he's not real but it's something to think about. I greatly enjoyed not only this book but the other ones as well, I do believe some things are a little far fetched but she's telling the story she wants to tell. I loved it, so it really comes down to what you get from it. ... show more

  • Really?
Sistah Soulja is trying to get that crossover money and I'm not mad at her but why is she doing it at the expense of Black women? I don't believe for a second she wrote any of the Midnight series. Only a self hating Black man, who low key hates Black women and who also happens to be Muslim is capable of writing this crap. I find it really odd that in the first series Midnight considered Bangs to be "damage goods" and not suitable for marriage because she was raped...fast forward to the third series, Midnight is still quick to point out that Bangs is not suitable for him and of course she's still being objectified... HOWEVER, he had no problems whatsoever hooking up one of the inmates, Lavidacus, who was caught with another man's penis in his mouth with a young Muslim girl. I noticed how Midnight regarded that inmate as someone who could be redeemed and he played a key part in helping him try to redeem himself. So basically a young Black woman who has been raped is not worthy of redemption or a Muslim man BUT a Black man can have another's man lollipop in his mouth and still be worthy of redemption and a Muslim woman? ... show more

  • Hated the ending, so much left lingering and unanswered.
The book’s content was great. I love the author but must admit I felt a little disappointed with the end of the book. I would have expected a few more chapters to close out some of the lingering stories. Would have liked for Bangs to eventually learn something he was trying to teach her and for more to come of their “interactions” but i am getting a sense that it was supposed to be an eye opener about black American women being lost and hopeless. 🤷🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️ would not like the impression of my thoughts to give off a bad report on the book because the book was a great eye opener but I just got disappointed by the way it ended. Where’s part 4?!? I need answers ... show more

  • Awesome!!!!
I'm not to happy about the ending I feel like I have to many questions unanswered. What happened to akemi? What about the twins? What decision did midnight make? Did he ever return home? Ameer, did he become muslim? What about naja? Does she get along with Chiasa now? Did Sudana still have a thing for him? Is there another book? Now we know that Chiasa was pregnant after all, but did Akemi leave? This book seems to be more about Midnight and Chiasa, and not much mention about Akemi. Shes a very important part of this situation. What happened with Umma living with the 2 Akemi, Chiasa and 3 babies. Did Akemis father ever come after her? The questions go on and on. ... show more

  • Midnight..another AMAZING read!!
WOW!! Sister Souljah has done it again...I absolutely loved Midnight, A Moment of Silence, as much as I did Books 1 and 2 and oh so wait for Book 4, because I know, she can't leave us hanging like this! LOL. Seriously, the storyline has always been captivating, full of knowledge, wisdom and culture! I took my time reading it as well because I didn't want it to end. Amazing read!!! ... show more
