  • Best investment you can make!
Size: 12000 Watts
This generator is absolutely awesome and totally worth the money. I run my welders, plasma and other tools off of it and it runs them better than a 220 or 120 wall plug does. Only downfall I will say is it doesn't have auto idle or any idle so it runs full bore the whole time which I'm ok with considering the amount of running and starting watts I got for the money. ... show more

  • It's a quite nice generator -- but to use for home backup power you'll need a lot more stuff.
Size: 12000 Watts
Caveat: Unboxing review only. I have not operated it yet, as it will be in storage until spring. After being hit by two major hurricanes and losing power a week or more each time the need for a generator became clear. I selected this generator because I believe things work best when over engineered. I didn't want to get over 50-60% of rated capacity in continuous use. My experience is when you run things right up to their maximum all the time they quickly break. To run the bare minimum I felt my kids could survive with - microwave, TV, lights, cell charger and a room A/C unit I needed about 5,500 watts of continuous power. I bought the 12KW generator for its 10KW continuous power rating. Delivery of the generator went smoothly, and the unboxing instructions made it fairly easy. You cut the four box corners vertically and it falls open like a flower. My initial impression was it's quite well built, but I live near the ocean so we'll see how it withstands salt air. Regardless, everything looked built for heavy-duty use, nothing felt cheap or poorly designed. My first surprise, and this is apparently true for all generators, is the power rating is for all of the outlets on the generator *combined*. You have two 120V 20A US standard outlets, One 120/240V 30A R30 twist-lock outlet (RV standard) and one 120/240V R50 34A four prong (like clothes dryers use). So each of the first two outlets can provide up to 2,400 watts, the R30 can provide 3,600 watts and the R50 can provide 4,080 watts. Add those up, and you hit the 12,000 peak load limit. If you want, then, to connect this to a transfer switch or lockout you will need to replicate the same outlets at the connection point and have 50A, 30A, and two 20A cables of sufficient length to reach where the generator will run. Surprise two was the cost to install all of that in my home was 2.5x what the generator itself cost. You need a second circuit breaker box containing just the circuits you want energized by the generator, the transfer switch, the connection point outside the house, and all of the interconnections. I only budgeted for a transfer switch and a small installation fee - so that's a future project. Clearly, I did not realize just how much this thing would cost. You will also need some kind of tent to put over it in case of rain. You cannot run it on your porch or covered patio. If there is a roof over it, the exhaust will go into the attic and make its way into your house. Most of the deaths attributed to the hurricanes here in the US were generators run outdoors but under roofs. For assembly, there is a rubber vibration damper that has to be adjusted to come in contact with the engine. The wheels are attached by putting an axle bolt through a hole in the frame, sliding the wheel over it and securing it with a cotter pin. Support legs bolt on to the other end of the frame for it to rest on, and you are done. Two notes: First, everything is metric, and the leg support bolts needed a 5mm hex (Allan) wrench. My metric wrenches are in even-number values so I had to go buy the right size. Second, once the support leg is installed, you will not be able to adjust the vibration damper bolt, which is why you must do that first. So for now, this sits in my garage. I haven't even put the oil in it yet. I don't want to deal with the issues that arise in storage yet. Once oiled and fueled you need to remember to run it for a bit every few weeks. Without all that, it can sit happily until the springtime. ... show more

Just what I needed. And it started right up after I put oil and fuel in. The instructions were easy to follow and understand.

  • Very nice 9250 W unit IF the $ new is below 1k.
Size: 12000 Watts
Update to review: well as I get further and further into this purchase, the less i like it, which should not be a surprise because most things that i purchase these days never live up to the advertisement. so I keep coming back to my reviews and generally have to shave stars off as i discover flaws as i am doing right now and describing why. Details: today I put the oil in it for the first time and cranked it up to run it with no load for the 5-hour break-in period. To do that, i had to put gas and oil in it for the first time, connected the battery terminal & on the fuel outlet and the hit the start and it cranked right up and smoothed right out in side a minute. So far so good, but i had put about 2 gallons of fuel in it and I went to check the supposed fuel gauge and it is registering nothing. It ran 3.3 hours , according to the hour gauge before running out of gas and I put a couple more gallons in it and I HAVE YET TO SEE that gauge move or register ANYTHING. I've looked in the manual about the use of the gauges and there is absolutely nothing in the manual about either of them except to point out where they are in a drawing of the generator. So regarding teh gauges and how they work, I am left only with my observations of the gauges to report here, which is: THE Fuel GAUGE ON THIS MACHINE THAT IS GOING FOR $2K NEW (I PAID less than HALF THAT FOR mine NEW right here on Amazon!) IS WORTHLESS CHEAP JUNK which DOES NOT WORK! original review: I don't recommend anyone purchasing this one only because the new price (new) has been jacked up so high compared to others of the same power on Amazon a buyer can get more for less buying another brand. Otherwise: I haven't cranked or used this yet but will do so and leave comprehensive review. it's solid and mostly steal construction with steel tank. the only non steel items on it are the wheels, gaskets, shock absorbing pads, the breather, wire covers and hoses. i had a smaller one just like it and it cranked with ease and ran smooth, though I never connected a load to it. Let's put it this way, i was\\s impressed enough with it that i sent it back because it came with broken parts and I wasn't happy with the power, how it was advertised, BUT i liked it enough to order this larger one when i saw the great price on it, under $1k and just about $200 more at and MORE THAN twice the power of the one I sent back. But my sub $1k new purchase was one fulfilled by Amazon and this one at more than double the price is by third parties which I don't recommend because you can get other brands right here on Amazon with the more power than this unit for the same cost. also, the smaller one I bought and sent back , IS NOW the same price as this one! So the retail vendors of this brand are pricing it right off Amazon, as far as I can see, as it's gone from the least expensive to one of the most expensive behind Honda. ... show more

  • Fantastic bang for the buck.
Size: 12000 Watts
I ordered this generator back in 2020 and had used it only a very few times, it had a total of 5 hours worth of run time on it. I keep ethanol free gas in it, start and test it every few months, and keep the battery charged. Last week we had a storm come through that wreaked havoc on the electrical system and down went the power. I got the generator out, expecting to maybe need it for a few hours....... 74 hours later our power was restored and this generator never missed a beat. It is strong enough to run my water heater, my stove, and even the clothes dryer if needed (one at a time of course). It does this while keeping the lights, refrigerator, and freezers running. Truly this generator turned a major problem into a minor inconvenience. The only "complaint" is that it is really loud. There are definitely quieter generators on the market but none can touch the price. ... show more
